There are quite a fews sites and books that tell you how to measure the height of a horse and I can see how that ground conditions and differences in opinion about what is the "correct" way could make an inch or even two difference, but what is the biggest difference between what you have gone and looked at and what it was advertised to be?
The story;
We drove just over a 300 mile round trip last week to look at/buy a "very gentle" mule with a "great disposition" that was "about" 13 hands tall. Among the other inacuraccies in the description we measured the mule to be 45" inches tall. That works out to 11.1 hands according to anything I have seen. That had that scruffy little mean thing advertised to be able to carry a grown adult.
Needless to say we passed on that "deal".
All in all it was a nice drive in a very senic area and I took the wife out for a nice dinner on the way home, so it was a pretty nice day all in all. I just wondered if anyone else had any horse/mule trader stories they would like to share.
