I just had to sign in AGAIN... was fine 4 hrs ago... no other boards are making me sign in every few days... weird...

Yep, it is weird. I periodically dump all my cookies, Internet history, temporary Internet files, etc. and when I do, I'll have the same problem on TBN only, no other website, for a day or two and then the problem disappears until the next time I run the maintenance stuff on my computer.

I use I-explorer.. and i had clicke dthe remember me.

I mean.. literally.. i red a message, made a reply, and when the board returned me to the forum.. I was logged out... weird..

I access TBN from a total of 4 different computers. My home PC, my laptop that generally stays in my truck or is with me in the shop, my desk pc at work, or the shop computer (at work) All 4 USUALLY "remember" me when I return to TBN.

BUT.... For the past couple weeks, shop pc has done the same thing. I log in, read a post, maybe reply, then flip back to the forum, and.......

Then I have to log on AGAIN.

IE on all 4. Windows XP pro on all BUT the one causing trouble. (W 2000)

I THOUGHT this was an isolated problem, just occuring with that one computer and only happening to me. Apparently not.

No auto updates are set on my computer which is running XP Pro and I get dropped several times per session on TBN.

And here I am trouble-free for three days! Automatic sign-in, hasn't dropped me once.

At least my tractor has stayed faithful and given me no trouble!!! Hoping the computer/server has worked out the bugs.

I have similar log in habits as you... A home pc, a laptop, and a work PC..

All running XP home or pro.

makes ya wonder...

It just started happening to me too. Even jumping back a page I am logged in then click a link and I'm logged out on that page. Never has happened before today.
Using Opera as a browser. Haven't made any recent changes here.
Odd....

I just want to add my name to the list of people not staying logged in. Just started happening in the last few weeks. Up 'til now, never had a problem like this. I don't know much about computers, but I've been checking all the settings I can think of. Windows XP, IE6, high speed cable, Computer Associates security suite. There is another website that we go to, that remembers our login and password. Wish I could get this fixed, it's not the end of the world, just a nuisance.

Hi,

I also have to sign in most of the time. Also, if I changed from 1 area to another, most of the time I have to sign in again ( ie going from Deere to Kioti) so basically not keeping signed in somehow even though I do not log out.

Belong to a number of forums and this is the only 1 which causes these types
of issues.

Is an inconvenience that I have been putting up with for a while and not a back breaker.

Just adding my name to the list.

Recently, I have to sign in all the time and sometimes during my viewing on my windows 98 computer.

I never have to sign in on my windows 2000 computer...

I had this on my old computer here at work. XP w/ IE6. Got a new computer and it was fine. They upgraded my machine to IE 7 last night, I now won't stay logged in to TBN. I visit a few other vBulletin sites and they work fine. I've deleted all of my cookies w/o success.

Woohoo!!! Seems like the vBulletin upgrade fixed my login issue. It now remembers me.

If you are running XP and IE6 then Service Pack 3 fixes the problem - at least it did for me.

Some of us are still running windows 98.

I never have a log in problem with my windows 2000 computer... but, multiple log ins are the rule with my win 98 desktop...

Any ideas what in SP3 fixes it?

They updated the flux capacitor.

Actually the magneto.

As a side note, if I come in off a VPN, then disconnect that VPN, I never get bothered with logouts. Hmm... must be the cookies.... and I think the fix is... purge or eat your cookies.

No, but this thread http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/news-feedback/120080-spontaneous-logouts.html#post1382803 details the analysis I did leading up to the SP3 upgrade. It was clearly an "upgrade" that introduced the problem in the first place, which is exactly why I resist updates unless there is a specific fix that I need.

I was asked to cease and desist on the subject and the thread was closed before I could report the fix. It's too bad others had to continue suffering this problem.

Since IE SP3 wasn't the fix to the problem for everyone, e.g., jwstewar, your advice to install IE SP3 could have just as easily caused problems for people resulting in more suffering.

I have had this problem, off and on, over the past several years.... it comes and goes...have never been able to dig deep enough to get to the root... vexing, but seems to only afflict a very few TBN members at any one time.

I can report that in my current situation, I have not had a unanticipated log out in a couple of months...it's nice.... but although I pay attention to various updates, etc...can't put my finger on what caused the problem to go away...
