blowing fuses

good afternoon people
i left my key on my farmpro 2425 the other day accidently
so i went to jump start it this afternoon
after cranking for just a second or so it quit cranking
the top fuse was blown and so was rthe second one
i replaced those and gagues worked and all
but tractor will not charge battery
but amp meter does show output from alt
the fuses blew again
any ideas?
i have jumped it before when i have been to stupid to turn off key
but never had trouble

Loose/dirty electrical connections are common, I'd check those before getting any more complicated. Then compare voltage across the battery posts; first with the engine off, then with the engine running. Sometimes you have to give it as much as half throttle before charging voltage is excited outa the alternator.

Greg right about getting the rpm's up to charge the battery. Here's what I would do

1) have you changed out the chinese fuses to American made?
2)cleaning electrical connections; Battery negative cable to tractor frame- remove all paint and use a star washer
3) blowing fuses check your starter/clutch safety switch
4)try charging the battery using a battery charger
5)clean and sand alternator conections and use star washers some are painted/or loose Good luck

after posting this i saw another recent post on the same line and yes it was my switch
all the wires leading to the switch are bare so ill have to fix those also

Yes In fact a few months ago all the Chinese fuses were recalled Something about car fires Autozone now stocks BUSS brand (american made) fuses. -Ed
