Best cheap blue jeans.

I got tired of paying thirty something bucks for jeans. All I now buy is the Rustler brand from Walmart. $10. Can't beat em.

The only thing they lack is a coin pocket (top of the right front pocket). That's where I used to keep my cell phone. Oh well. For ten bucks a pair I have adapted.

Never heard it called a "coin pocket". I thought it was a watch pocket, but since no one carries a pocket watch anymore, I figured pants manufacturers decided to eliminate that pocket.:)

Bird you're aging yourself (Again) so now some will want to know "What is a pocket watch", mine is setting right next to the 8 track and stack of 78's

Wayne, I never had an 8 track, I no longer have any of my old 78s (although I used to have several), and I don't still have any of the cheap pocket watches I had when I was a youngster. However, I do still have the Elgin pocket watch my grandfather said his father gave him for his 21st birthday in 1914. He carried it until his death in 1973 when I inherited it. I had an uncle who died in 1943 in Baltimore, MD. His job and title was "Chief Clerk to the Superintendent for all lines" Baltimore & Ohio railroad. In 1981, I inherited the gold Hamilton he was carrying at the time of his death. But a couple of years ago, I donated that watch, along with a lot of documents, to the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Museum when I learned of the museum's existence.

It's a FOB... I have my dads gold watch that he received at retirement from Merck... nothing much more than getting kicked out the door now when you retire!

My bad. I'm sure you're correct. I didn't even think it through when I used the term "coin pocket"; I just used terminolgy that fits my little micro world.

Eons ago (before cell phones and when pay phones were all ten cents) I religously kept several dimes in my "coin pocket".

I worked for a manufacturer of the finest denim in the US for many years. We mostly made the denim for the Levi's 501 jeans. Now it's being made south of here....

Anyway I know that a lot of your higher end jeans manufacturers search for the absolute cheapest denim they can buy to make their jeans and affix a popular name brand to them. Hilfiger is a name that comes to mind immediately. I think Wal Mart is now selling a line of Levis which are assembled in Mexico but the denim is made in the U.S.

As much as I love jeans and have worn them for years I find I'd rather wear pants made from the "khaki" type material for working in like the Dickies etc.

They are cheaper, cooler, roomier and seem to clean up easier than denim jeans. They also seem to stay up where they belong better since I have come down with the "noassatall" syndrome.

I think all the brands listed can be found cheap, at your local Goodwill or Salvation Army surplus store. Some good as new.

Unless I missed it, no on mentioned Dickies, I can usually get two years wear out of a pair. The cost runs between $12 to $15, depending upon where you but them.

I wore Levi's 517 that I bought at a westerm store for about 18 bucks. He retired and closed up and I couldn't find 'em for lless that $25. I used Rustlers for work chores and they were $8 on sale. I now wear Wranglers from Tractor Supply as well as Rustlers. The Rustlers at $10 now have watch pockets and they are hard to tell the difference from the Wranglers that I get on sale for around $16.

Me too. I hardly ever were jeans anymore. The Dickies are a lot cooler in the summer. A little stiff when new. After about 30 washes there much better.

I've also switched to the Carhart jeans. The Wranglers were cheaper but kept failing right after I had thrown the receipt away.
Local Mom and Pop farm store carries them at a reasonable price.

I just bought a pair of the C.E. Schmidt brand jeans at Tractor Supply. $17 bucks, regular price, not on sale. I like them--they fit good, and look to be well made.

I'm not much of a garage saler, but I can't imagine their being much men's clothing of any value in them. I mean, I wear clothes *out* before I get rid of them. Maybe I'm the exception.

Not true of women.

I've had a pair of Resitol (unsure of spelling) jeans for at least 6 years that I can not wear (literally) out. I believe that I mail ordered them from the sportsmans guide and have not seen them again, but I am no longer in the club. They are heavy but comfortable for work, Heavy zipper and thick seams and hey have lost little color in all the washings in this time. The best thing about them is a small tear on the thigh from barb wire that has never opened up or spread. Gary was probally selling the last of these then and I should have bought a dozen pair. Is this brand still out there?
