Great American Iron
Model Year: 1968

I bought this old workhorse with a front dozer blade, 3-point hitch, and broad plow. I off-loaded it, adjusted the carb and choke, and went to work. I'm amazed at how much sod I've turned under, broke up (with a box blade I previously bought,) and smoothed out with the blade. I'm building a runway for my R/C Airplanes, doing landscaping, building drainage ditches, pushing, etc. A few days after I got it home, a large tree fell across our road. I grabbed a chain, hopped on the SS12, and went down the road. While my neighbor went for his shiny new all wheel drive JD farm tractor, I pulled the tree out of the way to open the road. Granted, it took him several minutes to start the diesel and warm it up in the cold weather. Since he'd gone to the hassle to get his tractor, I let him pull the tree rest of the way to my place. I wanted to share the fun with him since he's a great neighbor! I'm working on several attachments including a lawn roller made from a 50 gallon hot water tank. When the weather gets warmer, I'll restore the paint. I don't doubt that this all American classic will still be working hard long after I'm gone!

Pros: Strong, reliable, easy to maintain, built by Americans with all American steel, designed and made to last!
Cons: I didn't have it until now!

Sears ST/12 Suburban
Model Year: 1974

Bought used in 1990 all parts original, ran well, rebuilt Craftsman 12 hp (Tech) twice due to wear. Magneto died. Parts no longer available in US. Changed to Cub Cadet Kohler 14 HP side shaft with a little modification. Changed seat and 1 Idler pulley and rebuilt steering links and rear tires 2013,all else is still original parts, Also have 42"mower deck and 42" and bulldozer blade all still original. Probably will outlast me.

Pros: Well made to last, most aftermarket parts will fit.
Cons: Original parts hard/impossible to find.

Bought tractor with mower and blower, but no chains or wheel weights. Put it to work right away, runs well.

Pros: Handles very well.
Cons: Does not like ice even with chains on.

Sears SS15
Model Year: 1972

I have been rebuilding this tractor and repainted. Currently rewired it also. Now I am interested in purchasing a deck for it also. And I also built a narrow front for it.

Pros: Good looking tractor.
Cons: Finding parts.

Sears Suburban
Model Year: 1969

Great tractor reliable and fun. My father bought one when I was a child, and I just got one for myself.

Pros: Tractor was built right back then.
Cons: Not 4x4.

Sears Suburban Tractor
Model Year: 1970

One of the best if not the best tractors Sears ever imported from the Roper company. Solidly built to last with a series of implements that were equally solidly built to last. Many of the tractors remain today and are still be used in suburbia.

Pros: Solid steel machine.
Cons: Some parts like carbs are becoming very scarce.
