Early Nightmare
Model Year: 2008
I had a 1975 Ford 3000. It was okay, but I wanted 4WD and a FEL. I got (what I thought) was a great deal on a low hour machine that was pretty much identical to a 3000. I expected the local Farmtrac dealer in New Alexandria, PA would service it even though I didn't buy it there. They won't touch it. :-( (Ask me to review that dirt bag dealer, no farmer that I've talk to around here has anything good to say about that shop). Shortly after 50 hours it quit running. I went on to discover it blew a head gasket! What made matters worse was that Farmtrac went bankrupt a week after I bought it so I couldn't get any warranty help. I got it fixed on my own dime and thought everything was good, until the head gasket blew out a 2nd time less than 100 hours later! The 2nd fix seems to be holding up. Other issues are a sticking cold-start solenoid, which may or may not have had something to do with timing issues that caused the gaskets blowing? Don't know. The tractor is also a bit leaky. Seals, gaskets, etc. FEL is slow lifting, dumping and tilting, but strong---3,500 lb lift capacity. Other than that it's a great machine (sarcasm). I own it and I guess I'll keep it, but buying it was the worst decision I've ever made.
Pros: Heavy, strong, basically a Ford 3000.
Cons: Repairs. See the review.
