L3800 Kubota
Decent Kubota, Just a Few Things I Would Change
Model Year: 2013

The main thing I would change are the headlights. I have to move snow, many time early in the morning. The gussets on the loader arm are very wide and when the bucket is down it restricts the lit area. I built and installed a light bar on the roll bar with 2 lamps focused forward and 2 to the rear as there was no lights on the back. I also wish the hood would lift higher. I also bought a Land Pride snow blower and the quality of this piece of machinery is VERY lacking. I would NOT recommend Land Pride any more. Very poor design and welding.

Pros: Solid well built tractor.
Cons: Some of the attachments were not so good.

Love My Kubota
Model Year: 2012

In the year that I've had my Kubota L3800 I've built 4 food plots, made my wife a garden, cleared several acres of land, built two bridges across creeks on my property (got one more to build), built a new fish pond, made over a 3/4 mile of new road (rocked and graveled) between the pond bridges, barn and home. A lot of the rock used was dug out of an old strip pit mine on my land. The digger bar on my bucket has paid for itself 10 times over. In all that, my Kubota L3800 has never gave me the slightest hint of a problem. The only thing I would have done differently is I'd have bought the backhoe attachment as well as the FEL. I almost didn't get the FEL and let me tell you, that would have been one monumental mistake. I've used the FEL more than I could have ever imagined in my wildest dreams. I love my Kubota. - Dano

Pros: The HST is the only way to go.
Cons: Not a one I can think of.

L3800 Kubota
Great Little Tractor
Model Year: 2011

Hydro model, I have a backhoe, blade & mower attachments for it. For an acreage tractor it is the perfect size. Very powerful for the size. I forget sometimes that it is a small tractor when on it. The steel frame (many in this class have aluminum frames) will support a backhoe. Great tractor.

Pros: Small, very powerful, hydro-static a breeze, 4wd great, backhoe available, steel frame.
Cons: Needs wheel weights a bit tippy on slopes.

Kubota L3800 Great Tractor!
Model Year: 2012

I've used my Kubota L3800 (38 hp) for discing both my home garden and 4 acres of wildlife food plots. It has performed admirably without fail. PLENTY of power. I've also recently started (novice) bush-hogging. I'm very impressed w/my tractor coupled to Landpride RCR1260 (60" wide, 500 lbs) rotary cutter. Moves it around confidently and with ease. I've also used the tractor with front forks for lifting 960 lb commercial laundromat dryers and washers. No problem lifting them up 3 feet to trailers or pickup truck beds. However, it feels like the 960lb dryer, along w/the 250lb forks is about the limit. To be safe, I used my 700lb disk on rear as ballast. Did a LOT of research before buying, and it's ended up being the perfect tractor for me. Easy to load/trailer also. I tried to make myself buy a "green" tractor, but every time I walked in the green dealership, the arrogant "green" people would not pay any attention to me, or hardly even speak. So, I bought ORANGE---great attitudes AND great tractors! My 18' 10pi Big Tex trailer is great. A 20' would be a little more versatile for hauling multiple implements. Tuff Top canopy is great - conduit braces added to front for trailering.

Pros: Toughness, quality, easy to operate.
Cons: None.

L3800 Kubota
Kubota---So Far So Good
Model Year: 2013

My first new tractor, it is nice to have one that is modern. This replaced an 8N and I had a Power King, which was small but paid for itself for 30 years. The 8N was over 60 years old. The Kubota has a ton of power and in 4 wheel drive, can wade through most mud. If not in 4 wheel drive, it spins pretty easily. I have industrial tires on it and maybe should have gotten cleated farm tires. I didn't want calcium in them, but that is what it needs. It also seems top heavy and I have to be careful. Another point for calcium. The rear wheel base in my opinion is too narrow and not much room to adjust the 3 point hitch. It has rods instead of chains for side links and every time I change attachments I have to adjust tire clearance for the hitch, which requires a wrench instead of just pulling a pin. The good thing is backing up with a blade is better than chains. A wider wheel base would help the rollover possibility and I believe increase traction in 2 wheel drive. No much room to get under the hood either as it doesn't open very far. As far as the loader, it is really nice. Easy to remove and I welded a plate on top to put chain hooks, but probably didn't need the extra plate. Still, it is a small tractor and care must be taken as having the load centered as not to bend it. If I had to do it over, I would have considered a larger model, but still at that, it is a nice tractor for what I need. I thought I was buying overkill, but in reality, you can never have enough overkill. The bigger the better.

Pros: Live PTO, power steering, shuttle shift, everything works, powerful for 38 horse.
Cons: Narrow rear wheel base, light rear end with loader on front, the hood doesn't open far enough.

Mowing for God
Model Year: 2013

Used primarily for mowing (5' Bush Hog finish mower) at church property (11 acres) which is hilly, some quite steep. Some of the steep areas require mowing in reverse, backing straight up steep areas with no maneuverable area at the top. Also used for tilling, snow plowing with rear blade and moving dirt, gravel, etc with front loader. Far exceeds the capabilities of the Kubota B-3200 I previously owned.

Pros: Enough weight to keep from slipping during normal operation.
Cons: Difficult to get in & out of 4-wheel drive, and sight glass for checking hydraulic fluid is very difficult to see.

L3800 Kubota
Kubota L 3800
Model Year: 2013

I bought this tractor about 9 months ago to maintain my 250. Acres of hunting property. I got the gear shift model with the front end loader, a 6 ft Bush Hog rotary cutter, a 6 ft Bush Hog heavy duty box grader, and a set of 6 ft heavy duty discs. I have been extremely impressed with the quality and the capability of this tractor. It has done pretty much anything that I have asked of it. The only thing that I wish I had, is the hydraulic top and tilt. It can be a pain jumping on and off the tractor to make adjustments. I use it for grading roads and trails, cutting small ditches for drainage, discing and planting food plots, and mowing. It has done great in all of these applications, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this tractor to anyone with similar needs.

Pros: Size, price, durability, power.
Cons: No top and tilt or rear hydraulic remotes.

I enjoy having this HST 4X4 tractor. Had I known how much I like it I would have gotten one about 6 years earlier when I could have used it a lot more.

Pros: Quick starting, easy to use, very handy for multiple jobs, ideal size.
Cons: Steering rods in front of axle, lack of 3-pt hitch extensions.

Fine Ride
Model Year: 2012

This is a very nice piece of equipment. The dealer has been very good to do business with. I have had no problems at all. I added 3 inch wheel spacers on the rear for greater stability on hillsides. I have 2 square feet of level ground on my five acres, unfortunately they are not adjacent to each other. The tractor has handled every reasonable job I have put it too. The physical size is ideal for my restricted space. A larger, more powerful machine would be fun but not practical. My primary use is for wood lot work. The FEL and root grapple are indispensable. Runs the 6 inch capacity chipper at a constant speed regardless of the size or species of wood I put in it.

Pros: Great balance of power and weight. Hydraulic power is more than adequate.
Cons: Tread with too narrow for hillside work.

Response to Chuck McCool on 07/31/2013
Model Year: 2013

First of all my L3800 is the best tool I have ever purchased; period! I purchased my L3800 with the "industrial tires" and have never had any issues with traction. Furthermore, most dealers recommend having the rear tires filled with water/calcium. My tractor has the rear tires filled with this and I have never had issues with tipping the tractor. I have had the rear wheels come off the ground because of the awesome power of the bucket, but I am always aware of my situation. This "good old boy" was trying to dig a pond with AG tires and I am sure they are not filled. In addition, the picture appears to be staged. Why would anyone try digging a hole without counterweights on the back of the tractor? This guy must have been asked to right a review by the competition. I have owned Kubota for years and never heard of anything this joker has posted. Either, this guy is writing a bad review because he works for the competition or...

Pros: Awesome tractor, great warranty and zero percent interest.
Cons: People who do not know how to use a "tool" properly and blame the manufacturer. Also, I wish I had more land and uses for this tractor.

Everyone...look at the location of his bucket! It is in the upper-most position and completely loaded! NEVER, NEVER lift a loaded bucket in that position and drive with it! The tractor will nose over. It's apparent this operator does not know how to use a tractor properly.

Pros: Awesome!
Cons: Nothing.

L3800 Kubota
Thought Green but Went Orange
Model Year: 2013

While I was looking for a tractor I was pointed in the direction of Kubota by a former implement dealer who only sells lawn equipment now. He stated that the people in his area either go green or go cheap. He told me though, that for his money he'd buy "Orange" and I confirmed he meant Kubota. I always thought I'd buy JD but they were always too expensive for what I wanted. So I researched Kubota and was very impressed. The L3800 had the features I wanted for a utility tractor. The price was so affordable I was able to get a front loader, 5' cutter, and a 5' box scraper. I have used all the accessories and am very impressed with the power of the tractor and the ease of use.

Pros: The responsive 4WD and the powerful engine. Auto curse control I added, a must.
Cons: Only change I would make is to put the brakes on the opposite side of the HST pedal.

Tractor is Very Dangerous!
Model Year: 2012

I purchased this tractor one year ago today. Within the first 3 days the tractor tipped up on its nose. The rear end is very light, and can flip over forward when using the loader. Tractor will lose traction when in two wheel drive. Front wheel hubs leak oil, according to dealer this is normal. When bush hogging the exhaust, fuel filter, are exposed to brush, which will break fuel filter, and hang brush in the exhaust. Do not use the loader, welds on bucket will fell if used in daily operation. Kubota will not honor warranty do to weld failure. Their excuse is it is a loader! I bought this tractor to use. This tractor is used only on a vegetable farm, and has never been used in construction or industrial use.

Pros: Tractor has great power.
Cons: Rear end to light, Kubota will not honor warranty on weld failure. No guards to protect fuel filter, and exhaust. Operator seat is tight for bigger person, okay for small person.

L3800 Kubota
Kubota L3800 w/Loader
Model Year: 2013

Not been used much so far. I always had old tractors before. I'm afraid to get this dirty---ha! The 3 point cat 1 seems narrow. Solid stabilizers, I like the old time chains better. Need 4 wheel drive often, I was surprised. Hood should go up farther. I have a shuttle shift and like it, but road gear could be faster. Three point not smooth. Seems to have a lot of power. Basically not broke in yet. I like it. Curious how it will work in the snow. The Roops is a pain to put up and down. Hard to leave up around low trees.

Pros: Engine is strong, loader is easy to remove and install.
Cons: Cost.

Parts
Model Year: 2013

Kubotas are excellent tractors and give long dependable service if properly maintained. However, when you need parts you are in for a very long wait so be prepared for down time to cost your business untold dollars with absolutely no care or concern from your local dealer or Kubota Company. Once you have signed on the dotted line Kubota could not care less about your interest, just the payment book! Read their contract carefully before signing, it is totally for their protection and benefit, nothing to protect you as a customer. My company bought the 2013 L3800 HST from Mid Florida tractor in Leesburg, Florida and had to wait for a simple value to work a hydraulic grapple for 5 weeks costing us thousands in labor cost and downtime. John Deere promised the JD tractor to be on the job within 4 days after ordering parts and putting them on. JD is the best on parts and repairs, hands down! If you must have a Kubota, shop several dealers and get in writing when your tractor and equipment will be JOB READY, DO NOT take the word of a salesman or even the owner of the dealership or you could be waiting for a very long period of time with no recourse are help from Kubota or the local dealer!

Pros: Good quality equipment.
Cons: Extremely long waits for parts and service and a no care attitude on the part of the dealer or Kubota.

L3800 Kubota
My Kubota L3800 Review
Model Year: 2012

Hi Muhammed, Per your request I am sending you my evaluation of my Kubota L3800 to date: I've owned it for 1 year as of April 30, 2013. I have 150 hrs! This is the first I've ever owned, I should have bought one 45 years ago. I'm 66! Tractor has 66"WOODS FEL with cutting edge L-524, power steering, cruise control, bucket indicator and block heater. Attachments are all County Line (so called): Quick Hitch 84" heavy duty rack, 84" heavy duty grader blade, 72" H.D. Box scraper, and 14" sub soiler. Plan on purchasing 60" Bush Hog and 72" Agriease snow blower. I have 25 acres divided into 7 house lots that I rent, I'm constantly doing battle with unwanted growth (grass, brush, alders etc.) and 3/4 miles of rough gravel road and drive ways to maintain. I've destroyed many a plow blade over the past 45+ years. I must say I did pick up a lot of great info reading what all the guys and gals had to say about snow blowing and plowing on gravel roads and driveways. I really enjoy reading all the info. Now about the tractor itself: I was going to buy a smaller one, but I'm glad I didn't, I was at first a little intimidated by the L3800. However I'm quite satisfied with this size tractor. Smaller would have been too small and larger would have been to large. Once the initial work was done this tractor size is perfect for maintenance with the implements mentioned above. I have one major dislike and two minor ones: 1) The three point hitch when trying to raise implements incrementally will virtually bounce you out of the seat (not at all good). I've heard this complaint from other people and the dealer readily admits it's a major problem with this tractor. 2) The parking brake , I've driven and worked for long periods of time before realizing it was still in park---not good! 3) Engaging the posi rear end is a real pain, engagement lever is very difficult to hold down with heel of left foot (I plan to modify by welding a plate on L type lever). Overall if it were not for Item #1, the 3 point hitch issue, I would rate L3800 at 5 stars, however that 3 point hitch issue really bothers me, so I will rate the tractor at 4 1/2 stars. Hope this evaluation proves helpful. Have a great summer. Dick Caya in Lyman, ME marcay@roadrunner.com

Pros: Right size for the job.
Cons: 3 point hitch, parking brake, engaging posi rear end.

New L3800
Model Year: 2013

I just took delivery Saturday of my new Kubota L3800DT. I really have only been on it for about two hours, but so far I have been impressed. It seems to have plenty of power for what I need. I mowed a few roads with a 5 ft Bush Hog, and it did great. I haven't had a chance to use the loader, or any of the other implements yet. I am looking forward to next weekend. I will be pulling a 5 ft box grader, and using the loader.

Pros: Size to power ratio, price.
Cons: None so far.
