Just bought this tractor, and I am looking for a professional painter in my area, Springfield, MO. It is in it's original condition, and rust is not bad for it's age. It had to be housed most of it's life.

Pros: Need a little help finding a reputable painter.
Cons: A private party would be fine as well.

I have had this tractor since I bought my Farm. It is a good little machine but it does consume some oil. The hydraulics don't work well when it's cold out and it doesn't have very much power, but it get's the job done. I would recommend a diesel not the 3 cylinder gas.

Pros: Cheap and reliable.
Cons: Bad on gas.

FORD2000 Ford
Ford 2000 in Line 4 Cylinder 6 Volt System
Model Year: 1964

I purchased this Ford 2000 tractor, Ford brush hog, Ford 6 way adjustable rear blade, 1 bottom plow, cultivator, rear scoop & dump bucket in 1984 from the original owner. It was in excellent condition from being stored inside and had very low hours. He had used it for his landscaping nursery business at his home from 1964 until he retired and closed his business in 1968. He would start it up a couple of times every year and putt around his property on it. I have kept it stored in my garage when not in use for the last 29 years. I do all of my own maintenance and necessary repairs. I used the tractor for doing landscaping around my home, brush hogging the field, York raking the gravel driveway, and clearing snow. It has been a workhorse for what I require out of it. It has not been used for anything other than sitting in my garage for the last 7 years, looking pretty! It still looks like it did the day I purchased it 29 years ago.

Pros: Well engineered tractor.
Cons: 6 volt system starts hard when cold outside.

Great mid-sized tractor. Needed a carb, Holley replaced by Zenith, much better carb, twin stick 8 speed, live PTO... Have hauled 10cord of fire wood this fall, came with Turf tires, put on double link chains, now will pull down a house, economical to run, fun compact tractor, plow much snow here in upstate NY. Never was a Ford car guy, but I can say I'm a Ford tractor fan! Easy to work on also!

Pros: Economical, reliable, good or small farm use.
Cons: None so far.

'63 Ford Industrial Tractor
Model Year: 1963

I was a foreman on a job 30+ years ago and the Sup. had this tractor on the job. I met him again 4 yrs. ago and he sold me the tractor a couple of months before he died. Put a new battery in it, a new rear tire, changed oils, and hydraulic fluids, points, spark plugs, greased etc. and she runs like a top. Did a quick paint job on it---nothing fancy, but looks okay. Strong front end loader w/12 gpm pump, and a heavy 6' Gannon Box blade on the rear, I've added 8' long x 1' wide forks that hook into a brackets welded into the base of the bucket when needed and that also serve as loading ramps for it on to the car hauler trailer. This is still a working tractor---I've graded several lots with it and built building pads, a storm control channel, Demo'd a house that had been partially burnt, and use it around the house and shop as a wheel barrow, hoist, to pull whatever and grade our dirt road with it along with my sisters place and brothers. Planning on getting a auger for it also. It's not as fast as a Case 580 or anything new with auto shifting and easy operator controls, but hey I'm not in a hurry anymore either, and we get it done just the same. Love this tractor.

Pros: Strong little skip loader with a PTO and Gannon.
Cons: Lack of foot throttle requires 3rd hand to operate bucket smoothly.

1961 Ford 2000 Industrial Tractor
Model Year: 1961

Acquired tractor from a neighbor for a restoration project. It was on it's way to the scrapper. Had been on same 40 acre farm for 45 years. Was a fun project. Might of spent a little more than the tractor would sell for but it is all about the journey and not the destination. :)

Pros: The front end loader is very handy. Live lift is nice compared to my little 9N.
Cons: The power steering has some aggravating leaks but is necessary with the front end loader. Compared to 9N the larger size of this tractor is not as handy for mowing or pushing snow.

FORD2000 Ford
Old Tractor
Model Year: 1973

A forty year old machine with only 1800 hours. Only one previous owner who primarily used it to tend his small garden and help some of his small town neighbors have a garden. Replaced cracked exhaust manifold and two dry-rotted front tires. "Bluford" does a great job plowing, harrowing, bush hog, and pushing/pulling dirt around with the 6' blade---I'm having a ball!

Pros: It's all good...
Cons: No padding on seat, no power steering---but I knew that when I bought it.

FORD2000 Ford
1967 Ford 2000
Model Year: 1967

I just recently bought a 1967 Ford 2000 gas tractor. I bought it to maintain my gravel road leading to my home. I haven't had a chance to really use it since I do not have a scrape blade yet. The tractor has been very well maintained. Everything appears to work including the lights. It was not equipped with a live PTO but has had the overrun coupler added. This is the first tractor I have owned so I will learn more as I go.

Pros: Well maintained. Strong lift.
Cons: Gas burner as opposed to diesel.

This tractor is in great condition, with the only exception being both rear tires that have 50% tread but some dry cracking. However it is propane powered which is new to me. I still need to find a propane vendor.

Pros: None.
Cons: None.

Bought this from an older fella. Seems to have been well taken care of. Stored inside always. Came with bushog and grader blade. It's three cylinder gas. Had an Allis WD before this one.

Pros: Smaller footprint than my Allis Chalmers.
Cons: No live power.

FORD2000 Ford
1971 Ford 2000 Diesel
Model Year: 1971

When I retired and puchased my acreage I negotiated with the previous owner of the property to throw in his Ford 2000 diesel tractor and brush mower as part of the deal. He accepted. I now tell people I bought a tractor and got a house and 14 acres thrown in for free. I had no idea what kind of shape the old tractor was in. I installed a new battery and it started and ran great. Since then I have performed routine maintenance on it in addition to replacing the water pump, radiator and generator. Not bad for the age and hours on the tractor. I use the tractor to keep the lower pasture mowed (about 6 acres) using the old brush mower that came with the tractor. I purchased a finish mower and used the tractor to mow several acres of yard. I soon learned this was extremely time consuming and purchased a commercial grade zero-turn mower to maintain my yard which reduced my mowing time by half. I sold the finish mower. The tractor is also used to power a DR brand 3-pt chipper that I use regularly to chip brush for mulch. I have several large landscaping beds that I mulch and have not had to purchase any mulch since buying my property. When cutting brush, I use the tractor and a utility trailer to hall chain saws and other tools to the work site. Trees and brush are then hauled away using the trailer. One of my retirement goals was to own enough land to justify having a tractor and I'm pleased with my Ford 2000 Diesel. I especially appreciate the two-stage clutch which makes operating the mower while stopping and backing up, a breeze. The only thing that would make the tractor better is to have a front-end loader. However, my neighbor and good friend has a Kubota tractor with a front-end loader and he lets me use his tractor when needed.

Pros: Two-stage clutch. Diesel torque. Inexpensive to operate. Just the right size to do the job.
Cons: No front-end loader.

Ford 2000

I have 1975 Ford 2000 tractor. It has been very reliable. I originally wanted a John Deere as that is what I grew up working with on the farm. But those are priced way too much for what you get. So far the 2000's parts have been surprisingly reasonable for the few breakdowns I've had. One thing I like about the 2000 is the hydraulic pump is on the outside, meaning you don't have to split the tractor in half to fix it. This is an excellent tractor: now if Ford could just learn how to make good trucks and cars!

Pros: Diesel, power steering, cheap parts.
Cons: No locking rear differential.

FORD2000 Ford
Reliable Small Tractor
Model Year: 1973

My Dad bought this tractor in 1974 to use in a 40 acre pecan grove. It has been used for mowing mostly, but has also been used to lightly disc. It has done everything it has been asked to do, and has held up very well. It is only recently that a major problem has occurred.

Pros: Very reliable, live pto, two stage clutch, plenty of power for size.
Cons: None.

Hard Worker
Model Year: 1968

I've owned this tractor since 1995 and have used it for everything. It's been and still is a great tractor. Only problem I had was I had to replace a head gasket but that was my fault. I keep it in a shed and it still looks new. The 3 cyl. diesel will work for hours without refueling. I love this tractor!

Pros: Low fuel cost with lots of power.
Cons: None.

FORD2000 Ford
1965-1974 Ford 2000 3 Cylinder Gasoline Tractor
Model Year: 1972

The older Ford 2000 3 cylinder gasoline tractors are basically good, solid tractors when used for what they were designed for, which is lighter duty work. I do however believe that power steering should have been standard equipment on them rather than optional because they are extremely hard to turn at slow moving speeds without it. The only other weak point I would mention is the hydraulic system should be beefed up more with a larger, heavier duty pump.

Pros: Manual steering models, light duty hydraulic system.
Cons: Tough and reliable.
