Zetor 7711
I am about to try to get my father's Zetor 7711 running after it has been sitting idle for several years. Other than charging/replacing batteries, drain and replace fuel and filter, change oil and replace filter, drain and replace coolant, are there any other good suggestions for getting this tractor ready to run? Should I change the glow plugs?

You may want to check your brakes,as mine would freeze in place on my zetor if it wasn't used for few weeks . The clutch may be frozen in place also . I live in a damp area at times so you may not have that problem in Tx. if it isn't to damp . If the clutch plate is stuck to the pressure plate that will be an experience as that happened to my dad's kubota one year after not being used for several months . We had to split the tractor in order to get it free . We did replace everything even though the clutch plate and all was still in good shape .

Thank you, I appreciate the information.

If it was mine I'd pull the glow plugs or injectors and run a tsp of ATF or light motor in each cyl before I spun it over to lube cylinders.

Thank you for that advice, I'll do it.

I had the 5245 zetor in the early 90's and it was a very rugged and fuel efficent tractor . It did have some issues however , but they have probably taken care of them by now . It was about 2 yrs.old and less then a hundred hrs. on it I had to replace a leaking hyd. clutch cyl. , fix some some very poor brake and power steering lines and be careful the brakes didn't seize up . The eng. itself was great . This one just required more maintenance than I liked , the dealer went under ,so I just got rid of it . In the middle of a snow storm etc. I needed something I could depend on .I take very good care of my equipment , they are not abused in any way and always kept in a garage .
