Zero turn tire choice?

I recently purchased a Bad Boy 54" Lightning Z (suspension). It is my first zero turn mower, and I like it a lot. My mowing technique is improving, but I still have difficulty tearing up the turf when thin or damp or on hills. My question is this. Would a bar type tire be better than the turfs that came on it? I realize once the tire begins spinning it would probably do more damage, but it seems the turfs spin if you even look at them. I think I've seen bar style tires on Dixie choppers (?) Does anyone have experience with both styles of tires on a zero turn?

Pull the inside lever so you are actually in reverse a bit and your problem should go away.

Art- I have learned to do that, and it does help- but I mow a lot of wooded area where the grass is thin and damp and I still have some problems. I am not expecting to never tear up the turf, I'm just wondering how differant tires would do? Thanks, Jason

A bar tire will tear things up a little more than the turf tire. A turf tire actually puts more area(contact patch) on the ground. What tires are on there now? There are several types of turf tires out there. Have you played with air pressure at all? Too much air pressure can cause scuffing of the grass also. Our 797 runs best at 12 psi in the rear tires.

I'm not sure about what kind of turfs (thought turfs were turfs ) Also, will check tire pressure as that makes good sense. I guess as long as I don't spin them off the rims, the lower the better! THANKS
