Zero Turn Question on Rough, Rutted Terrain

We ended up getting rid of our tractor and getting a zero turn after some great advice here. Quick background. Just built a house last year, did some work with the tractor, and had a crew come regrade with a dozer, harley rake our 3 acres, and put down grass seed. The grasses is starting to come in well, but the crew used a tractor and Bryant seeder to put down the grass, and they did it when it was a bit wet and soft.

So, we have some pretty rough areas right now with some good ruts. Maybe a few inches deep in spots. He will come back to harley rake them out in the fall and smooth things out before I overseed, but will I have a problem with the zero turn mowing in the meantime? Anything to watch out for or tips?

Straddle the ruts, dont drive across them!
If you do drive across them, go slow and keep your foot on the deck raise pedal ready to lift it.
Dont brink an open top beverage :laughing:

If its damp and ground is soft, you can straddle the edge of the rut and use the tire and the weight of the machine to push the raised edge of the rut back into the low spot.

2" ruts arent really anything to worry about. Just dont drive across them at top speed

Thank you both. Sounds good. I wasn’t sure how much give and flexibility there is in the mower deck or if I could do some real damage even if going over slowly

Yes good advice from both, you will be fine.

I needed do do more than just mow grass, the U of I is nearby and sometimes these show up in the used market. 4wd, a/c, radio, wipers, cup holder wish I had a "government" job. Front deck is the best (only good for grass and snow)
