zd28. Good deal? To buy or not to buy.

A friend has a 2006 or 2007 Kubota ZD28 w/72" deck for sale. 1100 hrs. Good shape and well cared for. Asking $5k.

I looked over tractor house. And $5k seems to be the low end. For older and more hours. There are really no good comparibles, but it seems 7k seems to be a good average for asking prices.

So what are your thoughts on the price?

Second delima. I have a SCAG wildcat. 61" cut. High 3000 hours, but new Kohler engine 200 ago (before I bought) and had the hydro's replaced at 2000-2200 hrs. I think I could get 3k for my mower if I were to sell.so the question is...is the zd28 worth the difference for an upgrade?

Final question. Are there any know issues with the zd28 to be aware of?

Going to look at it today I think.

2 things I am looking for is what size tires? Hopefully they are the same size as my scag. Cause I like the AT101's I have for my wetter areas like around the pond that never really dry.

Also looking for how much the deck sticks out the side. I want more for mowing the ditch area. So with the deck being wider by 6" each side, as long as the track-width isnt a foot wider overall, it sould give more offset...

Looked at the mower today. Didn't get to hear it run yet. Dead battery and been sitting for awhile, and not enough time to mess with. But wondering if anyone could tell me the year?

Model zd28f and serial # 61504. Emission sticker on engine says it meets 2005 regs.

Does have a few.minor issues. It is missing one of the pins and the hand crank for putting the front axle in maintenance position. One of the hst control levers is a little stiff coming in and out of neutral. Deflector chute is bent (but I wouldn't use anyway.) And it does appear to have a little oil leak around the transaxle.

Also concerned with the weight. All I could find online is 1450#, and my SCAG being 1200. And this looks a lot more than 250 more.

So all that...still worth 5k

The mechanical issues would concern me some. I hate leaks and the stiff lever could just be a lubrication issue or more likely an internal problem. Closer examination is necessary to determine the seriousness of the problems.
