Z-force 50 smokes at start up

I just purchased two new Cub Cadets, GT2542 and a Z-force 50. They are both great however I have a concern. The GT2542 doesn't smoke at all at start up but the Z-force 50 smokes alot at start up. Is this something that I should be concerned about? Right now, the Zforce has about 5 hours on and the GT2542 has 2. I thought I read somewhere that there was/is a issue with this. Thanks!!

I've had my Z-Force 50 for about a year and some times it smokes a little on start up. It did this the very first time I started on the dealers lot and they said it was normal. I think has alot to do with how you shut it down. The shut down procedure is to slow it to idle for a short period and then turn off the key and fuel. I try to do it this way but sometimes I forget.

My CC 2180, with a B&S Vanguard, does not smoke when starting, but my Z-Force 50 with the Kohler does smoke a bit.

I am watching my oil consumption, but there appears to be no usage. Also, the shutdown procedure seems to make little or no difference on mine.

It is just a bit disconcerting to see a few puffs of blue smoke everytime it starts, but after that, it runs like a champ, and performs beautifully.

Mine does the same thing with the kohler motor. But only if I choke it.

Is it a command Kohler? They had a problem with reed valves not seating properly due to the top thread of the retaining bolt raising up on the block when tightened. This raised thread would not allow the valve to seat completely causing smoking at start up.
