Xfaxman.... thanks for the detailed pictures... first time I have seen this system with wood.

We are doing something similar with double metal pole posts for the horses...

------------------ what I have been looking for would be like a rollback wrecker but on a trailer. may have to settle on a deckover tilt with a winch.
They make rollback trailers: https://www.google.com/search?hl=en...4.0....0...1ac.1.64.img..5.4.3781.TAgHu_ePsow

The thing with chains is it would still allow the ramps to slack back into my sprayer boom where the solid mount would keep them in place. I do like that you can adjust the chain length. As long as I make the bar length long enough that the ramps set straight up I should be okay with what need to do. All the other times the ramps can just be folded down onto trailer,it gets over weight if I hauled two more bales anyways on the dovetail, where I usually just haul one that makes 12rolls on a 14K trailer.

Tow rig, trailer and picking up the tractor

It doesn't look like your loader arms or bucket are strapped down. When I haul my tractor, I put separate straps on the bucket/fork carrier and whatever is on the 3PH. Am I wasting my time with those four additional tie-downs?

I don't believe your wasting your time, I actually never thought about it. It does make sense.

There is no such thing as too many chains & boomers and straps on a load.

july 2 005.JPGjuly 2 006.JPGjuly 2 004.JPG I use this 71 3/4 ton and tilt top trailer. I found some 6 hole split rims and mounted some very heavy 14ply tires on the trailer . they have 3750 pound weight limit per tire. the truck has a goose neck ball in the bed. I want to convert the trailer to goose neck. and install a winch up high in the neck. I have a big gooseneck cattle trailer with the stock rack removed that I sometimes use. however the tilt top is as handy as a pocket on a shirt.

It amazes me to look at a 45 year old truck like that and not see any significant rust around the fenders and at the bottom of the doors, etc. Around here, even if you Rust Check it every year you are going to see corrosion within 10 years and if it is not protected anually it will be perforated long before that.

Good on you for keeping that old gal running.

I've always liked the rollback trailers... only used one once and it was sweet.

For little stuff I use the tilt rail trailer and for big stuff... I use the PJ with hinged ramps on the back.
