Your towing rigs and trailers

Ed,
Here's a couple of pics of the truck. They're not the best, but it's getting dark here and I'll have to take some more later. It's nice that you did spot something "off" about the front tires. Now granted, they are upsized one size from 215-85-16 to 235-85-16, but there is something else that makes this dually front different from most. So I took a couple pics of the front wheel area to see if you or anyone else can spot what's "different". :D

Now that is NICE!!!

I just noticed, your trailer rims match your truck rims. The slightly larger tires look awesome, without sticking out as huge or anything. You have the cab maker lights, a winch, the rain guards on the window...I'd say that truck is set up just about perfect. :) :)

I can't say for sure, but I am pretty sure you are running rims like on your trailer, and like a SRW truck would have there on the front. So while the design is the same, the tires on the front couldn't be swapped to the back because the part of the rim that has the bolt holes doesn't stick out past the tire like the back rims. I think it is called backspacing, but basically you are running SRW rims on the front instead of dually rims? Am I right?

Ed,
Winner winner chicken dinner. I am running SRW setup on the front. I think it looks better than a dually front, plus it almost eliminates the front end prematuraly wearing out like the dually front ends do on these GM trucks. Yes the wheels are the same as the trailer as are the tires. I did this so I could carry one spare for the front of the truck and the trailer. The things that you can't see,
4" exhaust with exhaust brake
aftermarket intake
air overloads for rear axle with in cab control
wireless remote for winch
EFI Live programming with 50/100HP tow tunes switch on the fly
in cab mount for laptop/printer

Don't think I've ever seen that set up before. Looks like a good idea. Does it change handling?

Here's mine. 05 1500 4x2 4.7 v8 manual 6 speed. Installed 2500 rear end with 4:10 gears and LSD after shearing off the passenger side axle shaft on the 9.25 axle. Currently has 171,000 on the clock. Hauling some of this years demolition derby victims to the crusher. Looks much better with the Ford 800 on the trailer instead of this mess. The trailer was built by me in 2006. It is a hydraulic tilt bed 10,000lb BP. Trailer axles, NOT MH axles for those of you with good eyes, yes it has real brakes.

As far as putting the SRW front on, no it doesn't change the handling as far as I can tell. The tire actually rides real close to the same wheel track, all you're really changing is the way the wheel mounts to the vehicle

Did you ave to do any mods or just put the different wheels on?
