I'm typically against over regulating but generator noise limits I could see getting on board with.

Last year with the Power Safety Power Shutoff and my little 25 year old Honda powering the neighborhood refrigerators neighbors started buying HD generators and the noise was no different then everyone power mowing their yards all day...

The EM 5000 was super quiet compared to all the new ones.

I guess I am just spoiled with my little Honda EU3000. Easy start, and super quiet. I hear my neighbor's Generac kick in 800ft or so away and it is louder than mine sitting next to my house.

I would be a little miffed if during an outage, I had a slow running quiet liquid cooled diesel gen. couldn't hear mine, but could hear a neighbours set just screaming away. In some ways, it would defeat the purpose.

I installed a GENERAC propane unit as a favour for a customer in a very exclusive part of cottage country. Sounds like a lawn mower running full out in a dumpster. How is that acceptable? Never mind an actual outage, but just during excercise?

I have a generac 22kw and if im in my shop ...about 280 feet away, i can barely hear it. Heck my bathroom fan is louder. I cant believe you can heat it 800 feet. You must live in an echo chamber

My 22kw Generac on test mode was remarkably quiet and not much louder on full load.
the new larger one uses same engine, am guessing they use more effective load shedding to keep demand on gen down.

Echo can be a real problem in canyons...

When mom's neighbors bought the Home Depot unit it was running 5' from her bedroom... the homes have 5' side yard setbacks...

I swear the bedroom window was vibrating...
