I went to O'riellys auto parts store and purchased
a small battery for my generator 3 year free
replacement and more amps than the original
Just want to be ready should any power outages
come around. I have seen people try to test their
batteries that are connected to like 4 batteries
I had to tell them you have to disconnect the
batteries so you only test one at a time fo find
out witch ones are good or bad
Boating season is short up here.

Saw one guy acting like a cranky 6 year-old in a Parts Store after being told to come back in 2 hours, when his battery was tested. New-battery, previous season, and he hadn't bothered to charge it over the Winter - when his boat wouldn't crank-over, he expected to be given a new replacement battery immediately, so he could launch.

(Any decent commercial test station will fully-charge a battery first, before doing a load-test).

the engine in above post was on a truck same day i ordered it
What was the issue with the old motor that required it being replaced?

I only had time to fiddle with it for 1 run & the couple less than 1 minute follow ups before we left camping. Tried running it twice while camping, but didn't have time to fiddle with more than the fuel cap. Will find & replace the fuel filter in the next few days then verify other fuel stuff if that doesn't fix it.
Got a new filter in & finally replaced it. Hate where they have it mounted. Angled away from the front & impossible to get to from the inside. Keystone/Carbon clamped the fuel lines wirh permant Otker clamps instead of spring loaded ones or good old worm gear hose clamps. Had to get bolt cutters into no room to cut them off. Then fight a rubber grommet you can't see for 20 minutes to get a socket on the filter you can't see.

Anyway it's all back together. Ran finefor 10-15 minutes. Turned on the A/C and the engine lugged for 5 seconds then died. Wouldn't restart. Could easily blow through the old fuel filter too, so it wasn't plugged.

I guess I need to try & fill up a gas can from the fuel line going into the carb. Still seems like a fuel starvation issue to me with the timing.

We use those Oetiker clamps on generator oil cooler lines. Once crimped….never coming off except by cutting off.

Pickup screen maybe..... let us know how the pony-tank does.....

Nasty factory install on that. Rgds, D.

on our discussion of THD, my UPS died and I had to replace it. Did so with a APC 1500 that guarantees sine wave output.
Now exactly what does that mean in reality? Does a perfect sine wave assume zero THD?
I understand AVR keeping voltage up, but figured if my gen was putting out high THD, getting a better UPS might help.
maybe

Don’t know but for some medical equipment it specifies 1500 sine wave UPS

Some UPS run in standby mode, meaning you’re on normal power and it switches to inverter output on power fail.
A sine wave UPS should be converting to DC then inverter back to a pure sine wave AC.
