I have no doubt there is a name for that particular fetish! lol

Lenno probably has an arm of employees that look after his toys. Maybe it's worse having to take care of people that take care of your stuff. I will probably never know.

About 40 years ago I read a book titled Techno Peasant which predicted a great divide between those that understand tech and those that don't...

Lenno has a master mechanic working full time, he has a small in house foundry where they cast new parts for obsolete cars and cycles and steam engines ect., then machining them back to original spec...

He is bringing back and restoring historical pieces that would never see the light of day again, and employing guys to make it happen. He also works on them, and is a decent mechanic too.

Many generators don't care which way they are rotated to make power.

I never really thought about it, but now that I have, it makes sense. I will have to try it because if it does it will save me quite a bit of frustration in getting the belts twisted and held in alignment with an idler pulley.

Thanks: that was great information!

Any one part of what he is doing in your list is notable. That he also takes the time to share his collection and educate people via Youtube impresses me even more. A true custodian of vehicle history.

And..... he shows up at Pebble Beach, wearing jeans and a chambray shirt :D.

One of us, with $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

My friend is having trouble with his massive beast of a generator I showed earlier. Leant him a Basler VR and it doesn't work.

All my Onan sets have higher Field Voltages around 60 volts and Flight Systems Aftermarket Regulators show the same specs. My friends set makes 6000 watts at 240, with only 7 volts Field Voltage, bypassing the suspected bad regulator.

Flight Systems will not talk to anyone unless it's about a purchased product, so I can't even ask them if they have such a low voltage (field) regulator.

Any higher field v with regulator totally disconnected, or is that how you tested ?

was wondering how long the Westinghouse generator I'm planning on getting would run on propane and would a 20 pound tank be big enough.
Apparently it is, they quote 7 hours of run time on propane and 12 on gasoline. Seems the best solution is to get a couple of 30 pound tanks, which is all I can pick up, have them filled, and then use gas if/when they run out. Generator says one can switch fuels on the fly without interruption which sounds good. Even using non ethanol gas, if I can, I'd rather keep the gasoline out of the gen until I need it. GRS, you would know this, when you throw the lever from one fuel to another, does that utilize a different carburetor path entirely? Hard to imagine the same carb for gasoline would work for propane.

Have no idea how the Westinghouse units operate. I mainly work with whole house systems. But if it were me, id stick with the propane side of it. I swear you would not believe how clean plugs and oil look after 100 hours run time on propane compared to a gas engine.
