We were having a discussion on another board and this topic came up. What was the first tractor you ever drove or learned to drive. For myself it was a MF 135 that I used for brush chopping duty when my dad would let me, when I was old enough I started working for my neigbor in his orchard and vegetable farm and spent a lot of hours on a Ford 3430 where I fine tuned my tractor driving expertise. Best memories were when I was learning how to drive one of these beast.

My first tractor driving experience was on an old 1940's Massey Harris tricycle, I helped a friend gather firewood and sap for making maple syrup for a number of years.

Graduated to a 1951 8N. Now I spend my time between the N and my Kubota L3000DT.

I learned on a Ford 8N back in the early 70s as a teenager. But the first time I ever used a front end loader was on my current B2710.

My first tractor was a very old steel wheeled Oliver, a 1938 if I recall correctly. Good old machine she was. I used it for several years but was not a tractor "fanatic" back then. I sold it for next to nothing and would absolutely kill to have it back now. I could have restored it beautifully with not much more than paint and elbow grease. Oh well.

Old TLB (?International?) on my Dad's lap... I think I did my first real work on a Hough (spelling?) loader... Put serious hours on two Cat loaders (a 920 and 930)... Of course, this doesn't take into account the riding mowers... Jeez, that reminds me... We had one mower (good size, probably a 20hp) that had a hydro type transmission. Push on your toe for forward, heal for reverse... It would lay the rubber down on asphalt! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

My first tractor drivin experience was driving the Old Man's 1950 Massey Harris Pony across the yard, by holding the starter button in.
Needless to say, he wasn't one bit impressed with my discovery of how far that tractor could go on just the starter.

My first had to have been one of two Kubotas that I had access to about 22 years ago. One was a neighbors that I used on occasion to plow snow and the other belonged to the owner of a body shop I where I worked summers. Got some real time on that one, mostly FEL work. I can't remember model numbers for either but it was fun /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

My first was with a old farmall "C" My father had it. I only drove it a few times, never realy 'used' it. That has been the only "real" tractor, I have ever used. Rest of the time has been on garden tractors. Ny fathers old Homelite, late 60's JD110,and 1970 JD112[my Mom still has this one.] Then I moved to my own. Whatch I still have. My Ingersolls, one 444, and one 224.

Mine was an 8-N. Many years latter, we traded it for a Ford 3000. What a difference!!
