Yeah, when the Beatles became a hit, some guys in school let their hair grow out and got a Beatle hair cut, which was against the school dress code, UNLESS you were Amish, then it was okay. Caused a bit of controversy, and eventually it was permitted, but boy's hair had to stay above the collar.On Monday, the day after the Beatles were on the Ed Sullivan show in 1964, a boy in my class came to school with bangs. The teacher sent him to the office for a scolding and when he came back to class his hair was combed in the standard crew cut that he had on Friday.
And the dress code stayed the same until the fall of 1972 when they practically did away with it.
