You Know You Are Old When

We used large church keys for 5 gallon metal buckets of chemicals back in the early 80's, before they came with their own spouts.

Wish I had kept a couple. They were probably 2" wide and a foot long.

I've got about 300 of those now.

The only thing I've ever used the pointy end on was juice cans. Beverages had pop-tops or bottle tops by the time I came around.

I have used them on pop and oil cans, but usually used one of these on the oil cans.

Yeah, I used them on oil cans too, at least until I discovered the spouts you pictured. Those old oil cans with the foil-lined pasteboard sides got kind of funky if you stored them in a damp place, and they'd collapse if you tried to use a spout, so it was still good to keep a church key around.

When did they discontinue those cans and move to plastic bottles? ISTR seeing them around into the 80s.

Not sure. I Googled "vintage Hi-C can" to get that image. I think it's hilarious that they advertise "10% real fruit juice", as if that's a good thing!

These days, all the juice in our house is "Simply" brand, like Simply Orange, Simply Apple, etc. Basically, they squeeze the fruit and bottle it, nothing added or removed. Why eff with what's already damn good?

I’ve done laser hair remover on my girl. They switched up their laser and now I can’t tolerate it. So she’s not a woolly mammoth by no means, however, this stuff did not remove anything. 0 ️

By the way I left it on for 8 to 10 mins as well. Nothing. Don’t waste your money."

Most other cans took a regulare crank type can opener to take off the entire lid.
