You Know You Are Old When

You know you are old you remember when $100,000/year salary was a lot. I remember when I was a kid, I thought "Boy, if I EVER can make the $17,000/year my Dad makes, I will be RICH!".
100,000K isn't bad for 6 days per week, 8:00-2:00 plus he and my mother have been collecting SS for about 20 years.

Or move on and follow your passion…
Hope your passion pays the bills. ;)

I had a sibling that was very passionately involved in an industry. Decided to open their own store. Never took a salary and lived off of their spouse's income, putting anything the store made into paying employees to run the business and inventory so that they could focus on the creative part of the business.

Spouse passed away. Sibling had to start taking a salary, which meant laying off one full-time and two part-time employees, and required sibling to spend more time running the business than doing the thing they were passionate about. Got pretty tired of that after 10 years and sold out.

I remember my parents friends bragging their new son-in-law made over $15K a year.
But I also remember the house the neighbor built all in, double garage, cost just over $30 K.
My Pa's new truck was just under $3k.
