You Know You Are Old When

Seems a lot of money considering you can get a new one for the same or only a little more money. Curiously, what's typically wrong with them? I know some of the earlier flatscreens would lose the backlighting, but were otherwise OK. Still true?

I'm completely ignorant of what goes on in "black boxes" so I can't say. I remember him saying that he has gotten to know the likely problem that each brand and model experiences. Repair parts costs usually run between $75 and $125. Notice that this is all in Canadian dollars and TV sets cost more here.

About ten years ago, before my son started this, I needed a repair on a 46" Panasonic for the second time, that was estimated at $400. I bought a new 65" model for about $2000 and gave the old one to a friend that ran an electronics supply house who repaired it for a bit over $100 and was using it years later in his shop. He too was amazed at how long it kept working.

Electrolytic capacitors. The highest failure item.
This is half the junk that needs to go, except bike & tools.

You used to see quite a few home-made trailers here made from an old pickup bed (and presumably part of the frame). Haven't seen one in years.
They were quite simple, functional, and usually cheap. Haul away a discarded pickup. Remove the cab and cut the frame at the front of the cab. Make some cuts in the C channel, bend the sides inward and attach to a tongue. Trailer.
I ended up selling it to a guy that 'had' to have it because it matched his truck.

I use my 4x6 box trailer every week… it’s light and easy to move around…

With the gate down I can flat load 4x8 sheet goods…

The low height and ramp gate make it the superior choice to move appliances or a yard of gravel…

The steel deck is great when shoveling.

How about when your youth was filled with people born 2 centuries prior?

I remember plenty of people born in the late 19th century, three of my great-grandparents among them, and now we're in the 21st. But I'm not that old, I suspect some of you might remember people born before the Civil War!
My grandpa was born in 1888 and my grandma in 1896, my dad in 1919. There were lots of old folks around when I was born in the 60s.

… and many had strong personalities… not meaning bad but easy to remember…
