You Know You Are Old When

My buddy and I remind each other that when you step over something you're not picking your foot up as high as you

think.

I have a 6' and a 8' orange step ladder. I should have a 10' to change the light bulbs on my 12' ceiling, but the 8' is heavy

enough for me, so I added the 2" x 2" for support when I get up high on the step ladder.

My step ladders are 3', 6', and 10', in red, yellow, and red, respectively. The 10' red actually isn't terribly heavy, but it is damn awkward in a house not cleared of furniture, as the base is awful wide and long. The yellow 6' is the go-to for nearly everything around here, and it's plenty strong enough for anyone who's ever used it.

I have to work on the fly spray system in the stables. I had a regular 10' step ladder to reach the spray nozzles at 14' high. Didn't really feel secure having to stretch to reach to reach them. I bought a 10' platform ladder. It makes a world of difference.

50 does seem to be about the age when most just start realizing they can't do everything they used to do.

Maybe "realizing" is the wrong word, as it implies self-awareness. Let's say "painfully learning".
I'll be 64 in a couple months. I was still doing everything I wanted to until last March. I could jump up and down on and off loading docks, vault a fence, jump up and grab the attic hatch edges and pull myself up in, swing down off the roof, etc... then ouch happened. ;) I get some vertebrae fused in January. 😛 So those days are over.

I found one similar, but aluminum, in a dumpster. Nothing wrong with it, other than it's aluminum. I use it quite a bit. Nice and stable platform to stand on.

Because it's gonna take so long, and you don't want to stand there and dribble on your shoes.... taking meds for that really helps. (y)
I wish, finally had to have the prostate roto rootered to "help" open the pipe but not fully cure the dribbles.

A Urologist wanted to do Lazer surgery on me 25 years ago (money hungry). I've been on Flomax since then, plus Saw

Palmetto. I asked my Doctor here years ago, how come when I get out of bed or sitting in a chair for a while I have trouble

starting. He said, because my legs were close together that my prostate was scrunched, that's why getting up and walking

for a bit and everything works fine.

I've found that I start looking for a bush after about 4 hours, I used to make it about 6 hours. I'm only 66 though. I remember the good old days of sleeping through the night without ever getting up. It seems those days are gone, now I have to visit the toilet once.
