You Know You Are Old When

When I was in Junior High in '63, and the Beatles exploded onto the rock music scene, I remember the music teacher stating that in two or three years no one will remember who they were. 62 years later, I would say he misjudged their popularity.
I was 2. šŸ™ƒ

My older siblings weren't huge Beatles fans as I recall. Folks played a lot of big band stuff in the house. Siblings were more fond of psychedelic rock, counterculture, etc...

Starting October 24, 2021, residents in Indiana's 574 area code were required to use 10-digit dialing for local calls, which includes the area code, so it's been just over 4 years.
I can honestly say that's probably the first time I underestimated how long ago something took place. :ROFLMAO:

Ya think? :ROFLMAO:
I remember my sisters holding off on buying various Beatles paraphernalia figuring it would get marked way down in 6 months or so when they faded out. Guess they missed the mark on that!
I would assume the same for others with multiple area codes in the same state, we not only have to use the area code but also use a 1 in front like every call is long distance.
We have only one area code in my state, and were able to dial just the last 7 digits until a few years ago. According to Google:

If we hadn't had a 988 exchange, I believe we'd still have been able to do 7 digit dialing. At least on my home phone, you still don't need to use a 1- prefix.

I remember that day, fortunately now most of my calls(contacts) only require one button
Zero buttons, here.

Me: "Hey Siri, call Dave."
Phone: "Calling Dave Smith mobile."
Dave: "What the hell do you want?"
Me: "Just to show TBN how this century works." :p

Was his name Sullivan, with a brother named Ed?

I don't let Siri listen. So I have to push and hold the button for a couple seconds, then say call whomever.

I don't know if it's age-related, but I have no desire to use voice commands on my phone. My phone and my computer are two things in my life that just shut up and do what I tell them to do (non-verbally).

I didn't for a long time, but the past year or so, since my wife got a car with apple carplay, it's pretty darn handy. You just push a button on the steering wheel with your thumb and tell it what you want. Eyes never leave the road. Directions, telephone, it'll read texts to you, it'll send texts from you. Good place to eat near.... I'm getting used to it. (y)

When my vehicles talk to me I tell them where to go with language that is not very polite.

I'll answer a voice call while I'm driving, but everything else can wait until the car isn't moving. I appreciate having directions when I don't know the route, but all the setup happens before I'm on the road.

I'll let you kids do the fancy stuff, but I reserve the right to be peeved if you don't stay in your lane or maintain a consistent speed. If/when I start doing that, it's not because I'm on the phone. It's because I'm senile!
