You Know You Are Old When

All maybe true, but other than the old adage of gaining wisdom with age, this has nothing to do with "you know you're old when". Let's try to keep the politics out of it.
My original post was about a 5 cent stamp now being $.73 as an example of the inflation we've seen recently. I will try to keep politics out of my reaction to a devastated economy, but it is difficult

You know you are getting old when you realize some of your someday projects ain't going to happen...

Yea, I was hoping to be able to build a faster-than light vehicle or a "Tardis".
Looking doubtful.

But then my dear Dad taught me to get the projects done so they solved the problem. We and my Grandfather built a nice modern duplex virtually by ourselves. About the only thing hired out was the excavation. Took about a year from start to move in. Took my Dad about 10 years to finish putting in the back porch light.

When you want to spend your vacations deep in the woods, far from the people and hustle
If that's the case, I've been old since I was 12. :D

Time was that large landowners didn't care where you camped on their land, although there were laws about fires.
One weekend I wanted to get away after working 2 jobs, 7days/ week all summer so I drove into the woods, found a side road and drove about 2 miles down that until I found an opening. By sunset I had my tent pitched and was cooking supper on a Coleman stove when I saw headlights. Pretty soon a big land barge appeared pulled in right beside me and parked. They never even got out, just moved into the camper section. All night long I heard them walking around in that thing. The next morning I packed up and went home... so much for my quiet weekend.

Growing up our neighbor had 2,500 acres in Virginia and he said we're welcome to go wherever we want.

I miss those old floor vents in vehicles. Yeah, I know everything's air conditioned now, but personally I prefer the vents.
I recall getting a face full of dirt from the floor vents when first opened at speed. Now the little triangle side vent windows were great.

I liked and miss both the floor vents and the vent window, that floor vent would bring in cooler air for your legs, and the vent window when opened all the way would give you a good stream of air across your face and upper body.

Yup, been that way since I was about 6 or 8 when my parents finally allowed me to sleep outside in the backyard (about an acre) in the summer in a tent.
But that only lasted a few years, then it was tenting wherever I wanted.
/but that was rural Vermont, virtually kid safe for a big kid.
