You Know You Are Old When

Wife says she wants to work till she is 70. I've already retired, at 64 with enough investments to keep everything going and some plus . There is a huge difference in this. Our two worlds collide all the time. But she loves what she is doing, so I support that. She thinks she is supporting the house. Which she is really is not. Her income is irrelevant to the maintaining of the property. But you don't want to say that to a person you love, and is doing something they love.

Fortunately, I've still got about 90% of mine, but agree that a toupee isn't fooling anyone.
In high school we hung out close to some of the main doors.
One particularly windy day one of the teachers coming in had a really bad comb over.
When the wind caught it he looked embarrassed and silly (being polite).
I promised myself I would never do that.
There was a sales guy at the local MF dealership that had a dark chestnut toupee but his natural hair was mostly grey. Not a good look.
Mid 40s my hair started to recede so one day I just cut it to the skin.
I love it.
No more shampoo and conditioner and half hour with the drier and combing only to go out with a damp head in January.
Cool in the summer.
Only have to be careful in spring to get an even tan going.
Hair is over rated.

I do hate those getaway hairs that pop out of the ears and nose and I even have to pluck a few off the old schnozola.
Really I don't think I've lost any hair. It's just migrated south to my chest/belly and nether regions where it is doing very well. Very well indeed.:giggle:

Does she follow TBN?

I was wondering the same thing.
Social Media sleuthing is often perfected by the inquisitive spouse… just an observation.

Yep.

My wife can sleuth with the best of the CIA.

But every time she checks out TBN she comes back to me and says “you really spend time looking at sites that inquire about what kind of dung this is, if different oils really matter and best ways to mow grass”?

Well, yea.

My wife and I have always had an agreement. Basically, I kill it and she cooks it. That means you get the house and all it entails and I get the heavy lifting and anything outdoors.

You stay the heck out of my barn, tools, equipment, sporting goods, vehicles, etc and I'll stay the heck away from your kitchen, shoes, closets, cooking and anything social. And I don't care what it costs to have a nice home just like you don't ask me questions either.

So far so good and it's been a long time.

Seen several couples make it through the early years or retirement only because each had their domain… or as grandma would say having too many underfoot gets on the nerves.

Several of my career retired military had bumpy return to civilian life but all made it through.

A home I bought with a shop only came to have a shop to save the marriage and it worked.

The wife said I managed 28 years as a military wife and the first year it was coming down to one of us has to go.

He started all kinds of home projects and took up baking, etc…

Her car no longer had room in the garage…

With her blessing he built a detached 22x30 detached shop and the deal was stay out of my kitchen nothing, absolutely nothing in the garage except the two family cars…

It worked… he went to the shop every morning doing his restorations and every evening just before 5 she would go to the back deck and say Father, supper in 19 minutes… wrap it up.
