Don't have a clue Larry.. Call your cable company and ask about the buildout costs. A lot of fiber is built out for about $50,000 per mile. Maybe more maybe less in some areas.

Good Luck with that... it has been an ongoing back and forth with Comcast for several years with a full court press by me last Thanksgiving.
Promised it would be in by now... have not started.
Every time I call I am told they will forward a Construction update... all I get is generic Construction is in progress.
It might just be worth it to run for Country Supervisor to oversee the Franchise granted Comcast.

We tried that and got crickets. The only reason we got a response from the county manager was that a state employee who deals with these issues sent an email. Even then it took several emails and what we eventually received was useless.
Try the county manager but do not hold your breath.

When I went to the county the first time the person was very friendly and provided a local contract direct number last November
The Comcast guy was also very friendly... said I got to the right person and we will make it happen... after 8 weeks nothing.
I called the county guy back and his tone changed... asked just what did I expect him do do?

FINALLY, got our fiber connection. 15 minutes later I was on the phone with HughesNet to discontinue their service. Night/day difference:
Satellite is a good option if there are no other choices...

I am not sure that satellite is a good option ever. It just may be the only option

It took years to get it in Washington... needed to bore 875 feet and sign up for business 100 meg service and now it is finally in for my tenant!

Hoping to see fiber under our rural electrical coop this summer and looking forward to telling HughesNet goodbye! It will be strange going from a capped plan with stoneaged speeds to some of the fastest speeds available.

Our cable service quit servicing our road many years ago and Hughes was the only option and it was "acceptable" most of the time especially the Gen4. About a year ago a guy mounted a radio repeater out to the west, we have hills to the south, east and north, so we replaced Hughes with the line of sight, not "high speed" 3mg, but cheaper and unlimited use. My great grand kids might get high speed but I doubt I'll ever see it.
