just wondering if anyone has a yanmar ym2500 , similar tractor, coupled to a bushhog 285? The mower weighs about 750, without chains. Bush hog sales literature says it requires 30 hp tractor. my neighbor has kubota 3130 4wd with this mower and works OK. Just wondering. thanks to all for responses.

I don't have a 2500 , but I do have a 3110 and I use a 502 and a 285 and they do find.

I've got a YM 3000 and run a 5', runs well even in heavy stuff. Make sure you use a over running coupling on the drive line, it can push the tractor quite well if you don't.

Ditto to what Chris Wheeler said re: overrunning coupler. I used a Pitt 5' on my FX24D and it was fine. Except of course for that time I almost ran into the fence before the coupling. The mower was not 750 LBs though. I think it is closer to 4-500 LBs.
