YM336D Overheating?

My 336D has been having issues lately. Will start and run for about 15 minutes and then the rpm's will die down to almost nothing and the engine will quit. Will not restart or if it does on occasion it will barely run at an idle but if I put it in gear will die again. Have not been able to figure out what is going on with it except maybe it is overheating. Perhaps the thermostat is not opening. Does this sound like the problem to any of you that are much more experienced than I am? If so, What thermostat does it use and where do you find one? Thanks for the suggestions

First and simplest thing to check is: see if the fuel filler cap is so tight that air can't get in to replace the fuel that was used.

Sounds like the engine could be trying to seize. Does your heat warning light work? Yes it has a thermostat. THERMOSTAT: Yanmar Tractor Parts

Can check this today for sure. Is this something that can create the above mentioned problem? I have always tightened it down fairly snug as I didn't want the fuel to slosh out when I was driving it.

I have searched the threads on this forum looking for a source for a fix to a trans problem. I am missing either 2nd or 3rd gear depending on how you look at it. Looking through the inspection plate you can see that teeth are missing from the gear. I have not been able to find a solution to fix this issue. If you have seen such a thread I would appreciate the recommendation

It it's not over heating, when is the last time you checked /changed the fuel filter ?
I have to clean water out of mine on a regular basis

Have you tried finding a replacement gear at all the Yanmar used parts dealers?

Changed the fuel filter about 12 hours of run time ago.

I have googled yanmar parts a good number of times. Found one set of gears in So Carolina a few years back but they wanted nearly $2k for the set and just didn't have the money to spend on that at the time.

my yanmar has run some with the temp light on, but has never gotten hot enough to seize the engine.
If that's what's happening, it ain't good !

Am only assuming the engine overheating light works but the last time I saw it on was several years ago when I had a coolant leak in the radiator hose which I did not notice initially while out bush hogging. It started right up today and ran fine but I did not run it for more than about 10 minutes.

You need to contact the dozens of Yanmar Authorized Parts Dealers, as well as all of the Japanese Tractor Parts salvage yards.

It's there. Keep looking. All mine are posted from phone. It is tricky to find. I think its a little blue clink able link below the text box if I remember.

Wow you have more patience than me. I check in on the phone only as a last resort, because text is so small and the 'keyboard' is frustrating. An old laptop at the ranch works fine for this. I can also crop, and edit photos to reasonable size on it. Yeah old school here.

These days unless I am at work, I do almost everything on my phone. It's what I have. I can pull it out in a second as I sit on the couch . Walk between rooms, basically whenever I have a second.

I figured that looking@ some of the mistakes over the yrs.. Which are typical for me. My Ph. is as old school as it gets. Since I have hand and wrist problems it only has extra Large buttons Am/FM and flash light.. Basic as it gets. But at home a Touch screen Laptop. I had problems with the Touch screen but now that it's been straightened out it's really nice. Plus I can't talk a lot so I just have no need for a Ph.. Just for Emergency's. I do keep a touchpad that's to big to carry with me except for shopping,travel etc.. The Alexa is great. Crs. half the time so It come in really handy.

I have 2 Samsung Galaxies!!! My own personal one and one for work !!!
