ym2000 is it a good tractor

looking to buy a ym2000 that looks new and drives great. i will use it for mowing with a 4ft brush hog and a 4ft box blade, would it handle this and is the part availability good. the man wants $3950 for it at rco tractors in austin,tx. thanks

Yes, it will handle those implements great. The ym2000 is probably the most populous of the grey market tractors and has the best parts availability. RCO has a good reputation.

Hello. You will probably hear all about how the YM2000 and its US market twin, the YM240, are excellent tractors. They are. They are simple to work on and parts availability is excellent. There are several high-quality dealers who frequent this board and offer anything you would need.

This tractor should handle a 4 foot cutter and box blade fine. Your results may vary according to the tires the tractor has, the terrain/geography of your area, and so on.

I see you are also asking about a Ford 1900, and own a Mitsubishi D1620 or D1650. A search of the Yanmar forum will reveal many, many reviews and recommendations on implements and their usage for the YM2000/YM240. It is likely the same with the Ford 1900. What's the purpose for buying another tractor to supplement your Mitsubishi? Will it not handle the implements you have? The Ford 1900 is significantly bigger and more capable than the YM2000. The Ford will be significantly more capable, because it is much heavier than the YM2000. That isn't necessarily an advantage. Larger, heavier tractors will, all else being equal, tear up the ground more than a smaller tractor will. It doesn't take much of an increase in platform size to make a tractor more awkward in tight spaces. This may or may not be a concern to you. If you brush hog large, open fields, the Ford may be a better choice. Sell your 4 foot cutter and size up. A 5 foot cutter will, under ideal conditions, be 25% faster.

Search in each forum for the keywords of the tractor you're interested in. Read a bit, see what shows up. I'm new here too, but this website is an excellent resource. If you use it efficiently, you will be a lot happier with the results.

my satoh st1620/mitsubishi d1650 is a great tractor and handles those implements very well, i just can't find any parts for my tractor it doesn't need any now but it could use upper and lower radiator hoses they are original. just lookin for a second tractor i can work and be able to get parts easy. thanks for the help. :thumbsup:

I don't know much about the small Fords but Shibaura (the manufacturer) went out of business several years ago. I suggest verify parts availability if you are considering that one. There was a poster on TBN a few years back who spent a lot of time, looked everywhere, for major transmission parts for his Shibaura.

For the Satoh - have you talked to the guy up in Oregon? I think he raises Christmas trees, and also imports/sells Satoh parts.

I don't know about the availability of parts for the Ford 1900. But with a search on the New Holland/Ford forum you should be able to see what sort of problems people are having, and then if they're able to repair those issues issues with readily available parts.

The Yanmar 2000/240 series has excellent parts availability. One of the members here, California, compares it to parts availability for classic Jeeps and Volkswagens. You can't literally build one from reproduction or aftermarket parts, but you can come very close. You will find Hoye tractor comes up a lot. They have an extremely useful website, with many diagrams and listings and so forth for each model. Because of its user-friendliness it is often the first suggestion. I haven't ordered from any others, but LMTC, Fredricks and others come up frequently as having excellent service.

I would be surprised if you couldn't find a flex-hose at Napa or some other store that would fit. Ask in the Mitsubishi room where others are sourcing those types of parts. But talk to best-used-tractor and small import tractor supply in Oregon, as California suggested, at least as a start.

Obviously in the Yanmar room you will find bias, but I think it's legitimate. Yanmar has a reputation for reliable machinery, and the 2000/240 is an example of why. Other companies make excellent equipment as well, and you will be able to find something to do your tasks.

I had a YM 2000BD for a few years. it was a good tractor for its age but a tad small for my needs. I pulled a 5ft box blade and a 5 ft brush hog with it with a problem.

YM2210 is more useful. I would buy that if the price difference isn't overwhelming. The Powershift is well worth the additional cost.

For my sloping orchard I am continually stopping the YM240 to shift to an appropriate gear. When I finally bought the YM186D with Powershift, what a difference! Just pull the little lever as the grade changes.

YM2210 is nearly the same as YM2000 aside from the Powershift. It should be as easy to maintain. I love the huge stump-puller torque, from nearly zero rpm, from the big two-cylinder engine that both models have.

excellent tractor, the 2210 has more horsepower and power shift, if in your budget you wont be disappointed.. I had a 2210 and sold it, kinda regret it.

Get the YM2000 It's a Great little Workhorse. look at my profile of my tractors that I own and use regularly. I bought my YM2000 to replace useing Garden Tractors- Lawn Mowers. I figured it would come in handy and found out just how durable and dependable it is. All of my mine are 2wd. straight shift with the Ford Funk being in the Mtns. of WV. and the JD. 5103 so far none of the Yanmar models come close to it I use a YM2500 Turned a Yr. old in Dec. It was refurbished with no problems with it so far. Honestly I am the only one that does use it now that Father Marty has passed. No comparison and really don't have anything good to say about the 2500 pto selector. I guess I'm just getting Old and CRS..... everytime I get on it to mow I looking at the decals for the gear selection 2 handles of 6 gears:confused2: It's not all that bad just some getting use to.

On the asking price it is right there for a As/Is US. Dealer. A VN'ER about 900.00 High IMHO. I gave 3200.00 Used As/is for mine with a New 4'BB 3yrs. ago and going through my receipts I have about 270.00 in parts and my time to get into Great working cond.
