Checked it again and this time the voltage was over 17v DC. Think the voltage regulator is bad or not working correctly. Will try a 1972 Datsun 510 voltage reg. Several post on this forum recommended it. Anyone no anything about it or have any suggestions?

IMHO if the charging voltage is too high, your battery will make too much hydrogen gas as a by-product of charging. The battery will need water more often.
My ym 240D (ym 2000D with English markings) now has a Chevy alternator. The price was right. The electricity it produces seems to be okay for my Japanese tractor.

Got a Datsun 510 volt. regulator for $10.00. New in package and price includes shipping. Hope it will correct the problem.

Haven't had a chance to put it on. Does appear to be the same. Hope to work on it this weekend if deer hunting doesn't take up to much time. This is the time of year not much gets down around the house. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
