I thought some folks might be interested in my inexpensive turf tires. I installed 4.80-12 trailer tires ($18 each) on the front wheels, and 285/75R16 truck tires ($25 used pair) on modified rear wheels (drilled new bolt pattern). All the diameters are the same as the original tires, and I still have the rear rice tires for snowy days. Pictures attached.

Fantastic! My kind of a solution (cheap).

Why did you need to drill the rear wheels? They look the same as ours. Did I mis-understand?

Nice job! How are the tire and wheel sizes in relation to the 4WD? Or do you not use it with that turf setup?

The John Deere bolt circle on the wheels was too large, so I had to drill a smaller diameter circle for the lug bolts.

The tire diameters are same as the original rice paddy tires. I drove in 4WD on pavement, and there does not seem to be any wind up in the drivetrain. I also laid down some rubber accidently. I shifted the powershift a little too quick, and the rear wheels actually chirped before they grabbed on the cement. I might need to bolt the seat down a little tighter with all that traction. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Nice looking set up. Thanks for the tire size info. I have the same model tractor and am in need of new tires. I have found new agricultural tread fronts mounted for $70 each, but this seems a bit high for such a small tire. I have found the rears for $120 each mounted and that seems more reasonable.

very nice set up you have there, do you mow your lawn with it ? I know that Leonard Sheaffer use to sell mid mount mowers that ran off the rear pto. I have a set of diamond tread turf tires mounted on rims for a YM1401 but I dont own a 1401. so they just collect dust. I drove a mahindra 2015 with turf tires the other day and man was that a smooth ride
on blacktop or gravel. again nice rig you have there.

Then what you've got is a set John Deere rims (on the rear) with 285/75R16 tires on them(?).

Still a great solution!

JRJ - Where are you located? I have an extra set of wide 15" wheels (for 33" tires) and an extra set of the 285/75R16 tires(for 16" wheels) for sale.

Ernie - Thanks. I have a YQM60 mid mount belly mower that runs off the 3 point hitch. It is a pretty slick mower deck, however, it does not go as high as I would like. I am cutting my grass the YM1510D and a Landpride 60" rear discharge rear finish mower now. It does a super job, but it is a pain to keep from bumping into things. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

ChuckT - They are John Deere wheels that I also had to reduce the width. I rigged up a plasma cutter jig for that process. Picture attached. In hindsight, I would have bought a set of steel Chevy truck wheels for $35 a piece. I think they just need the lug nut holes slightly elongated and the pilot hole enlarged.

Thanks for the thought Kieth. I am located in Oklahoma. A bit far for a tire/wheel transaction. I do appreciate your idea though. Thanks.

Nice! Is that exhaust standard or did you extend it? I have a YM186 an often find myself wishing that my exhaust stack was taller.

It was standard for the YM1510, but I have since reduced the size to prevent hitting tree branches. FYI: Based on previous experience, if anyone modifies their muffler this way, make sure you point the exhaust away from the tractor and not straight forward. It will quickly clog your air filter.
