YM 2000 on ebay

To me ,Ebay doesnt produce really any deals, its an auction with millions of potential bidders, usually produces fair market value, unless its something unusual or rare. Do to vast exposure,I use it as a pulse of the current marketplace,to judge somethings current market value, as do many others. I think it will close in the low 2000s, but you never know for sure. Lately Ive seen 2wd YM2000s on CL asking between 1800-2400. Just my opinion.
I was recently in the market for a 2wd Yanmar in that hp range, so Ive priced them.

I know what you mean about ebay deals on some things.......and why bid early and give everyone a chance to outbid you? :)

That being said, tractors in these parts (N.E.) sell for more than they do down south...a 24 hp diesel tractor for 2K is cheap here.

I doubt it will last out the day. Ebay will probably pull it as soon as they realize what it is. Ebay doesn't normally allow gray market Yanmar sales.

I saw a tractor a week or two ago (ym2000) it was used and private party, somewhere around ATL area on CL. The guy wanted about $500 more than you can buy one from Spalding tractor with a 1 year warrenty?

I believe its dealers who are banned from selling grey market Yanmars on ebay, not private party sales.

Ebay is not the "top dog" for great prices. Now craigslist, you can find some pretty darn good deals there.

Sold.....? Or just.......gone? How can they stop a private party from selling something purchased legally?? I don't get it......

We have about beaten the Ebay subject to death over the past several years, but for the newcomers, here is about when/how it first began.

Thanks for that. Interesting........I don't get how you can't use their name selling a USED tractor. Just doesn't seem right. I don't think it (ultimately) would stand up in court. But I guess they'd wear you right down with appeals, etc..............for ever. ;)

I'm also surprised that ebay doesn't have the sack required to tell Yanmar that they can't be telling folks not to sell a used product aqcuired legally.

Oh, well.........

I'd be very interested in learning what copyright laws have to do with reselling an object you have purchased. They are exceeding the scope of copyright as I understand it; the person you sell a copyrighted article to can certainly do with it as they see fit, as long as they don't reproduce it. I'll need a better explanation than that.

just use the farm paper and those iwwana ads and CL. You can use ebay but better write the guys name down and pm him and make him an offer when it gets pulled.

It's all been said. Google 'Ebay VERO takedown'.

Ebay has a problem with fake Rolex watches etc. They have a program where the trademark owner can ask Ebay to close auctions that the trademark owner doesn't like. Ebay will ban the seller if he re-lists.

This is legal under US trademark law. We may think its unfair but you need a change in US trademark law before Ebay will change their policy.

Consider the pursuit of pirate music downloaders by RIAA. This Yanmar issue follows similar legal theories.

Nope....not the same. A grey market Yanmar is not a fake. If they were selling fake Yanmars, I would buy it. Something smells about this.....it's un-American ;)
