YM 1700 hard starting

Didn’t see any, but probably would if I had it Magnafluxed. The original head gasket was badly broken.

so, you are saying it runs ? Did you get the answer about the valve adjustment ?
I see where you asked and no one responded. I can look it up if you need it

YM195 (YM1700) Operation Manual: Valve clearance 0.006", both intake and exhaust.

Same clearance for YM240 (YM2000).

it just puzzles me as to why you couldn't see all of this when you had the head off the first time :confused3:

They looked alright till I got a spring compressor, then down hill from there.
