YM 1301 vs YM 220

I currently have a 1301d that I am a bit disappointed in its ability do move dirt/gravel around. It seems too light to dig into a pile and hardly get any material into the bucket.
I am looking at a 226 today, 4x4, power steering, and was hoping to get feedback as to how this machine would compare as well as parts availability, potentially trouble areas to look out for.
