Dave,

What did they mean by shut down? Closed for good or for plant maint. etc? /w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif

You can call first choice at 888-945-3102 or see their web page www.firstchoiceequipment.net I had much better luck via telephone than emailing them.

Peiter at first choice said that Chappel Tractor had done business with them in the past. Ted Higley at Chappel in Brentwood said he could get me something if I wanted, but was trying to sell me the landpride. I didn't pursue it further as if they weren't a stocking dealer, the price was probably going to be higher.

Carver sells first choice equipment and may have the 48 in stock. Their quote for the 60" was more expensive than sweet tractors. I don't remember how much because I deleted the email.

There is zero truth to the story that the plant making First Choice's ground engaging equipment is shut down. Don't know where any one could have gotten that. Not only can you buy the equipment as First Choice, but it is also now also available under the label of Midwest. If you are having difficulty getting our product from First Choice please contact me via this forum private message, my email or our web site http://www.midwestequipment.net

By the way, I took no offense to Dave's question and hope no one was upset by my answer. He asked a legitimate question based on information he had heard. I would have done the same. It's difficult to gather the tenor of some conversations when in text without hearing the voice, so I wanted to clarify a bit.

Hello Jimmc;
Do u or have u thought about making a
sclarifier attachment, similar to box blade w/o box.
I would like to rip ground before tilling.
Like a mini chisel plow, I don't want to moldboard
plow first.

As a work around you can tilt your box blade forward so that the scarifiers engage without the blades touching the ground.

Actually, I have been playing around wth a tool bar concept that would allow the attachment of scarifiers, cultivator shoes, rake tines, etc. Also working with the idea of a bucket scoop with scarifiers. Would like to combine the two ideas.

Comments? What else would you like to see on a tool bar?

Not that I plan to buy in the near future, but I think a 2" receiver hitch would be popular.

Thanks for clearing up the "plant closed" issue.

Jim, that sounds like a great idea to me. Would all these items be bolted to the back of a box blade? Wouldn't you make more money selling them individually? What will we tell our wives?
and thanks for so often replying to us here. I see no other implement reps ever chiming in. bw

Toolbar would be a universal Cat 1 hitch in different widths for various horsepower ratings with brackets and spacing for tooling. Tooling can be purchased with toolbar or added later as you need. A smart design would allow most tooling to remain mounted and moved into position for use as needed without constantly removing one set of tooling to use another. Kind of like a Swiss Army knife for your tractor.

Jim,

I for one would love to see a "generic" tool bar available. It would be nice if you had a few different sizes probably, so us BX owners could get a shorter one than the "big boys". I have a cat 0 toolbar that used to come in handy for oddball ad-hoc situations. Unfortunately, it doesn't work well on the BX.
