Lizard, The link in your last post does not work.

I should note that your new valve should have at least the same flow rate as your pump. Also the new valve would need it's own pressure relief. I would set the pressure to the same pressure of your loader valve.

If you do not have a pressure gauge, I highly recommend you get one.

Welcome to TBN!

I am not familiar with your system. However, if I were going to add a valve, I would make sure it had power beyond. Then take the hose that goes to the "In" port on the loader valve and feed the new valve first. Take the power beyond from the new valve to the "In" port on the loader valve. Next, go from the tank port on the new valve to the plugged tank port in your picture of the hydraulic block.

This way I would be certain not to create any issues with the flow of the loader valve.

Hopefully someone more familiar with your set up will give you better insight. Good luck! :)

Okay, I understand what you're getting at, but the 3rd Function Valve from National Implements that I'm considering doesn't have a PB port.

I'll try to post their schematic again.

I've probably missed, but the 3rd function valve you are going to use, is a solenoid valve or a regular (mechanical) one?

The solenoid ones, are built slightly different from the regular ones and can stand high tank pressures, where the regular valves can't do it (some go as high as 400 psi). That's why the solenoid ones won't have a PB port as it's not needed.

Now, if you are going to use a regular valve, unless it will be the last valve of the system, that will return directly to the tank, it needs a PB port. I'm not familiar with the hydraulic system of your tractor.

And I fully agree with you, dealers get too much money out of these 3rd function valves deal. It can be easily done with 400/500$. Even less in some cases.

Solenoid valve. Switch on the joystick gets wired to a 12v circuit.

I can't post the URL, but if you search for "National Implements Dedicated Third Function Hydraulic Valve" you should find it. And I'm not married to this one, so please make recommendations.

Seems like this is a highly desired feature. Manufacturers could make these standard equipment on FELs for probably less than $100 per unit given economies of scale. This could be marketing gold.

Thanks and regards.

If it matches the pump's GPM then it's good to go.

Try to source the PB conversion plug for the loader valve. Connect the PB hose from the loader valve to the solenoid valve. Tee both tank lines so they both go to the tractor case, run the electrics and should be all set.

This way, the loader valve's relief valve will provide protection for the solenoid valve also.

Lizard,

Now that I see the valve you are considering, you will need to go through the loader valve first. Although I see that you can power another downstream valve after this one, it does not have a pressure relief. If it is the first valve in series, your system will not be protected. See below copied from their PDF.

"*If there are no down-stream functions the power beyond runs to the tank, but if there are any more valves on the system they will be down stream in series with the power beyond. Proceed exactly the same way in this case. If you have purchased a one touch kit sized for the correct amount of auxiliary flow on your tractor then you can insert the one touch valve in series on this line whether it runs to tank or to another function."

You will need to figure out how to convert your loader valve to power beyond.

Ptsg is correct. He is just faster at posting than me. :)
Sorry for the repetitive post.

No worries, repetition is good for me.
Thanks!

I actually understood that. :)
The pump produces 7.4 GPM and the solenoid valve is rated for up to 14 GPM, so I think I'm good there.
I'll need to do more research on the loader valve. Thanks again, guys!

It will be just fine.

Sometimes sourcing the PB plug is the hard part.

Usually it looks something like this:

However, the dimensions vary according to the manufacturer of the loader valve.

If you could provide us with a bit more info on the valve, we could help you with the PB plug. Usually there is a plate in the valve with a couple of numbers and the brand.

I've done PB plugs in the past for my projects. It's quite easy if you have a lathe and a mill and are inclined to machining.
