New county windshield stickers arrived today... Wife says it must be placed perfect on the windshield... Ops... I put it on upside down! Drive her crazy for the next year!

A few localities in my area have stopped decals, wish my county would, they are a pain to get on the windshield.

Fauqier county stopped doing it recently but it was for instance to access the landfill.

I recall when we were kids that dad had to have the car safety inspected every year and we had a sticker for that. But, as I also recall, they did away with safety inspections because it was cheaper to pay off a mechanic to give you the sticker than to fix the car. All the mechanic had to do was deny the violation was there when he inspected the car.

I can't think of anything that requires a government sticker in Indiana, anymore, except the license plate year expiration tags that they send you to save cost on metal plates.

Just wait, global warming is coming to an area near you. We have our inspection stickers tied to emissions testing here in the DFW metroplex, so if your car is polluting, no sticker.

i put mine on yesterday evening. what a pain in 'a'. i'm not sure why they can't compare the list of registered vehicles in the county to the list of decal purchasers and then just bust the ones that dont buy. then they could do away with the sticker itself.

You know I think so to. But, out here, in the tax capital of the US, they don't do it... amazing!

Seeing some cars on the road, I kinda wish they did some times; I have seen some real rattle traps that look like a hazard to all the other vehicles/drivers out there.

We never had stickers, but years ago they did do spot inspections. They'd just block the road... Have'nt done them since probably early-mid 70's.
