I have not got it yet. My brother is getting a motorcycle so I might get one with him so he will have a riding buddy. I may have to put project Husky 155 on hold for a year. I am not sure what I want: A dual purpose Yamaha or the Husky 155! Same price.

Slammer,

Also I can't forget of the JD LT 180 I have always wanted for the same 3 grand! I like to drive these at work. Nice steering. I just don't know if the single cylinder Kohler will have enough power for what I cut around the apple trees. My 14 horse JD tractor bogs down as it is and it is one of them very good old Kawasaki motors. I don't know what to do either the Husky or Deere at this point. I like the Deere for parts availibility and the like as I can get them right at work. Plus JD mower decks hold up for years. I never owned a Husky deck before and it is kind of small at 41''. The Lt is V Twin 17 horse with 48'' cut.

Hi to Yellowsocks93 and Slammer. I found your discussion regarding the Rider 155 and wanted to share what I could with you two. First of all I'm new to this forum so let me know if I'm doing anything wrong - posting, threads, and so on.

It sounds like you two are far more knowledgable about lawn equipment than I am. However, I do own a Rider 155. I've had it since about this time last year and enjoy using it.

I'll give a brief history of my experience with this mower. I've heard a lot of what you two have discussed. Dealers don't like carrying it because it's problematic appears to be true as that is what I was told here locally. I inquired to Husqvarna and they were obviously of a different opinion. This mower has supposedly proven itself for many years abroad. It is touted to be very dependable, durable and nonproblematic. Back to square one right?

My experience goes like this. I purchased the floor model from my local Lowes store at a 10% discount. In the first two months I owned my Rider I had the drive belt slip off and break and the steering cable break. After the steering cable broke Lowes replaced the unit for me without any questions. I think my problems may have come from it being a floor model and people tinkering with it. Since then I've not had a single problem. The Rider does a great job mulching and is a dream to cut with. It is extremely manuverable although you're right Slammer, it is a little heavy in the steering. This being my first riding mower I don't really know what I'm missing though.

Not being as knowledgeable as you guys about mowers I don't know if this mower is too complicated by design or not. I'll agree that simpler is usually better, but this mower's design gives it near ZTR abilities with only one transmission a few pulleys and some cable. The articulating design works, but I don't know how durable the cable and pulley system will be.

Husqvarna did tell me that this is a finish mower by design and that it isn't intended for pastures or rough terrain. It was designed for landscaped lawns. I don't know what it's like around your apple trees Yellowsocks93, but you may want to take this into consideration.

No my place is golf course like so that is not a problem. But I don't think that the single cylinder will have enough power for me. The rider that I use now is single cyl 14 horse and I would like more power. I might get 2 John Deere 318 for the 1980s and use one for parts and one as a good mower. I would like to restore one and could probably get them both for 2 grand. I would get the Husky if they still sold the V-Twin model here in the US or if I could get the Pro Flex version they have in Sweden. I really like the Husky my bro said it was well built but it will be under powered for my work. Thanks for you thoughts on it. I would like to hear more about cut quality, engine power and more comments on how it runs if you have time.

Set, thanks for the informative post. I have talked to a few people in the last week (online) that either have a 155 or have had one and they all agreed that when it's working it's a great unit. And to be fair 2 of the guys said they used their units for 4 or 5 years before they had any trouble at all. But it seems like when that 5 year mark hits it's Katey bar the door. If I can find that forum again I will paste some of the conversation for you. Thanks again for the great post.
