yanmar 2000
I still have not found the problem as to why oil drops on my yanmar 2000 are blowing out of exhaust stack and excessive smoke also.I have the motor built from the head to the crank and nothing help . I have replaced the rings twice had the head thru the head shop and they replaced the valve seals ground the valves and reseated them and shaved the head just a little bit . I have had to rotate the stack forward to keep from getting oil drops on me. i have always run the tractor between 1800 and 2200 rpm tried running the tractor hard all day trying to seat the rings and it did not help . that day I lost about a quart of oil. No fluids are mixing but the oil level does drop slowly when you run it. any suggestions will be appreciated . thanks mark

The only thing i can think of to help is, make sure your breather tube on the right side near the injector pump is not clogged so that the crank case can breath.

I was going to ask if your sure its oil and not deisel fuel and carbon mixing, but if your short 1qt of oil that seems more logical.

Oil getting into the cylinders past the rings or valves will be burned along with the fuel and you would be seeing excessive smoke from the exhaust. Oil drops in the exhaust means the oil is getting into the exhaust outside of the cylinders.

Excessive wear in the exhaust valve guide or valve stem will let oil get past the valve guide seal and into the exhaust. Oil will slowly build up in the muffler until it starts blowing out. When you rebuilt the engine, was there a lot of deposits on the exhaust valves? There is also a small plug right above the exhaust port in the head but I am not sure if that is into a water jacket or directly into the exhaust port for the head.
