Yanmar hydraulic pump

What caused the over pressure and has that problem been resolved? Are you sure the pump is unloaded at start up or when no functions are being used? A fixed displacement pump starting dead headed will not prime as well as an unloaded pump flowing back to tank. What you have described sounds like you may be losing prime and then not getting primed again.

I really don't know much about hydraulic pumps. (Which probably seems pretty obvious.) It has worked most of the time when I start it up. It just takes spells occasionally when it doesn't. I don't use it that often, but it has been ok these last couple of days.
I appreciate your input, that's good to know. I'm still learning. That's why I reached out to those of you that have the knowledge in this area.
