Can anyone tell me the capacity and oil oil type I need to get to change the engine oil on my Yanmar 3110D? Also Napa or Fram oil filter info for it would be great too. Thank you. - Andy

This is covered constantly in the Yanmar vintage forum found here. DUE NOTE, your machine is METRIC and follows JIS standards and not SAE. So the oils will be different.

From that post it looks like 10W-30 will work best for me. Is that correct? I don't run my tractor if it drops below 0F here and it won't be above 86F here until probably July of next year. Can I just go down to Napa and get Rotella diesel 10W-30 and call it good?

I found in another post on here that supposedly the filter I need is the Fram PH5046. Is that also correct?

Oil, you got it. :)

Filter, I'm not sure. I cheat using Rockauto.com as a parts look up. Drop that Fram number in there and read the detailed info. You need a filter that has a flow in the mid-30s and a bypass valve. If the flow rate drops lower, the engine will overheat, starve for oil and seize up.

I've been using the WIX brand called Pro-Tech. Other times the Purolator. If Fram, it has to be the EG or better.

The PH5046 references all of these too. BUT, check the mircons and the bypass valve.

So, do you have the manual yet ?

I don't have the manual :( I saw I can get several different types of manuals at hoye tractor but I have not done so yet.

You said a flow rate in the mid-30s as in 30gpm? Which manual do I need to get where it can tell me what the filter microns should be and the flow rate? The two Wix replacement filters for that Fram say they are only 8-10gpm and 9-11gpm which makes me think that probably isn't the right filter if it is supposed to have a flow rate in the 30gpm range.

I see that Hoye has filters on sale in a three pack that they say are exact spec match for this tractor. I will just bite the bullet on shipping and order that 3 pack of filters.

Last year, I got the same Hoye deal. :) Hard to beat a deal time offer. And because of the shipping all as one, I also opted for the fuel filters too.

As for the manual, the Gray YM3110 is a "near" equal to the US domestic YM336. The engines are the 3T84 in the same Hp class.

Having this manual would be a good help.

YANMAR YM336 PARTS MANUAL Y00T2140.pdf

This can be found for FREE and the Yanmar Tractor Owners Group at the link in my sig below. Once a member, go to the left column and click WIKI > RESOURCE PAGE > scroll to manuals.

There are other goodies on the site there. It operates as a ListServ system or as a website somewhat like a forum, but not the same. It's not a replacement for a tractor forum like TBN or the others. Instead it should compliment them. A forum like this one can work like a project blog or work with enhancements. The ListServ works via emails and notifications. Thus, they really compliment each other.

Likewise, browse the Hoye website for the knowledge base and helps sections.

Unlike other Gray Market machines, the Yanmar is well supported over here. In many instances, one can add all the modern safety hardware to the YM series. Both Fredricks and Hoye have these parts and products.

I would strongly suggest grabbing an overrun clutch for the PTO. Then a PTO shield. The ROPs for some models are on a long back order.

Mine has the ROPS and PTO shield on it as well as the loader frame. Here is a picture of it before I took the bubble wrap off the ROPS.
