Well as you know there isnt much room on these tractor's for us big guys right..When I got on the tractor my knee hit the key and broke it off inside the ignition. I cant get the broken bit out. What do you folks suggest I do? Does somebody have a replacement ignition for a ym2200? Perhaps there could be a domestic ignition that would fit.Let me know ..Thanks

Hey Danny, try this on ebay. 17 bucks + 6 for shipping: "Kubota Diesel Ignition Switch". used it on my F18D and it works perfectly.

A $17 (+$6) ignition switch is hard to beat and I think the only way it gets better than that is what I did with my Iseki when it arrived in the same condition. I simply removed the switch (after carefully color coding the wires) and after removing the cap, carefully fished the broken piece out and made a new key from it. Later, I found that the key on my Yanmar actually fit and worked with the Iseki, although the keys looked entirely different (zigs and zags). I think the security is mostly our imagination.

In regards to security, I have two keys on my tractor set, one for the tractor and one for the master lock used to secure the tractor to barn with 5/16 chain. As per usual after unlocking and giving the tractor the once over, I pop into the seat and start cranking. After raking the driveway and putting her back in the barn I looked down and realized that the masterlock key was in the ingition! Wow now I can unlock the "door" and drive around with the same key. Now I should mention that I have a Recon and the key says Isuzu on it... This function did come in handy when my 18 month daughter decided to play hide the tractor keys and I was able to use the backup lock key..

Don't know if it's true or not as I haven't tried but.........the place where I purchased my tractor said that any John Deere key would fit the ignition. [probably shouldn't say that too loud, lol]

It might be worth your while to take the ignition switch out, try to remove the broken key and see if you have a key on your key ring that will fit.

Gosh I wish I would of read this sooner. I ended up going to Hoye and purchasing a ignition switch. Once I removed my old ignition I come to realize the new one was not exactly the same as my old ignition. I didnt have my wires marked when I removed it and now I am searching for a diagram so I can properly connect the ignition switch. I got it to start but no lights or power to the dash. getting alot of rain here so I havnt really worked on it a few days so maybe its just a fuse rather than a crossed wired. But I am pretty sure I have a wire or two backwards.

It is undeniably true that my Yanmar key works perfectly well in my neighbor's JD750 and his key works just as well in my YM2220.
