yanmar 1985 ym336d spindle repair problem

I have a 1985 Yanmar that the front spindle has broken. . Ordered replacement part from Hoye's who said was the right part but the spindle end is too big to fit into the old bearing. Anybody have experience with this? Its Sunday and I can't call hoye's. Any help would be appreciated!
