I'm a first-time tractor owner - a Yanmar 1410. After operating fine for a couple months the hydraulics has started operating erratically. Was idle 4-6 weeks.

Mostly not responding at all... neither front end loader nor 3pt. Sometimes it will start to function but weak and jerky.

In my amateur attempts in diagnostics, I disconnected the quick disconnect for the loader and pressed on the valve pin in the fitting with a screwdriver. It sprayed and the motor changed pitch (hydraulic pump?). When re-connected the hydraulics would work but only for a little while.

No manual. No prior tractor experience. What to do?

If you disconnected the QD with the engine running, that was not a good thing.

Check your fluid levels, and the filter.

Sometimes QD's fail and block fluid from flowing. Check and make sure that fluid is flowing on the other side of the QD by removing the QD fitting off the hose, and reconnecting. Then engage the FEL lever to cause fluid to flow through the QD fitting into a bucket. . Then check the other QD's for flow.

No 3pt probably means that fluid is not flowing to the back.

If all the hoses are correct and the fittings are food, there should be flow from pump through all the hyd valves and return to tank. Any movement of the levers will cause fluid to flow, and if things are correct, the cyl or motors should operate.

You might install a hyd gage in the pressure port and monitor the hyd system.
