Was looking at the P7010 but not interested in cab, and would like power shuttle transmission.

Wondered if XU5065 might suffice. Brochures mention a Shibaura Tier 4 engine but I can find any more info on what model, and what it uses to meet T4 regs, etc. Can anyone point me to that info please?

Also, does the XU5065 surface in the market wearing different paint and badges please? It might make it a bit easier to get parts, etc, and to get a drive on one given there is no LS distributor down here.

Can't really find much on here about the XU series. Is there not really enough of a difference between this and other X series tractors to warrant any increase in price?

Thank you.

A few details:
- Shibaura engine model # ISM N4LDI-TA
- Uses exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) and other combustion/engine mgmt tech to avoid use of a particulate filter/regeneration cycles. From ihi.co.jp website -- "Unlike other Tier 4 diesel engines, the newly developed engine does not use a diesel particle filter (DPF) to trap the PM in the engine exhaust gas. Instead, the new standards were cleared by making the combustion inside the engine cleaner. This also greatly improves fuel efficiency and decreases CO2 emissions."
- Their engine catalog (PDF) features a few model variations and simple torque curves at http://www.ihi-shibaura.com/english/catalog/pdf/enginecatalog.pdf

Believe this engine tech is also what Mahindra is using to comply with Tier 4 standards... and admittedly Mahindra is doing a better job than LS marketing as a product feature with customer benefit. I read that some other manf. (Case, Massey Ferguson?) is going to start using Shibaura engines soon, probably for the same reasons... and hopefully with the added benefit of parts availability if they use an identical version of the engine.

I haven't personally had any problems with my XU5065, except it shut down unexpectedly last week while using the BH with 1/4 tank still showing on the fuel gauge. Luckily it started right back up after a couple gallons of fuels were added, so I may just have a bad gauge. Otherwise, I've been a very happy LS/Shibaura customer, and the PS transmission works great. I wouldn't like the regular shuttle shift as much, but this does require a step up from XU5055 for the PS availability.

Thank you for this great information.

No dpf or regen cycles to fuss with sounds good.

How many hrs do you have on your tractor so far?

Is the xu5000 series being made for any other brands like case, new Holland, etc
?

No problem -- I agree! Only 22 hrs since it was delivered. Wet weather and early sunsets have slowed after-work progress substantially.

FYI, tried but didn't find any Case or New Holland equivalents to the XU-series on their websites. Case's Farmall C Series might be close, but along with the NH T4 series they both look more like P series tractors from the pics and specs. Maybe somebody else knows more...
