Dealer delivered my 6168 about a week and a half ago. I really love the tractor but it has a noise coming from the transmission when going in either direction. If the range shifter or gear shifter are in neutral and the shuttle is shifted to forward or reverse the noise is still there. The dealer has picked it up and is working with LS for a solution. Does anyone here have any ideas or has any one else had this problem? Thanks for any help.

Can you describe the noise? Is it constant or rhythmic? Does it get faster or louder with increase in speed? Does it happen in all gears/ranges?
I'm looking at getting a 6168CPS. I take it yours isn't the power-shuttle?

The noise happens in all gears and ranges. The noise changes speed with engine rpm and not with different gears or ranges. I spoke with the dealer today and they said the one that is on their lot makes the same noise. It is a slight rattle that can be heard the loudest at the rear of the tractor. The dealer is contacting LS to see if this is normal or not. The question is do all of these make this noise or just the two that have been checked. It is a power shuttle and other than this noise seems to be a really good machine. Hope this helps.

Mine makes a similar noise only when the PTO is running and the engine is at idle. Almost like there is slack or lashing in the gears. Anything above idle or when the PTO is off it doesn't do it.

This is not at all related to the pto, it sounds more like a bad bearing. I'll talk to the dealer tomorrow to find out more. I've been working out of town so it's hard to stay in contact on everything. Thanks for your reply.

Got the tractor back two days ago. Most of the noise is gone. Checked the other power shuttles at the dealer and they have the same noise just not as loud. As I said it is a lot quieter since it was sent back. The dealer picked it up and dropped it off at no charge. They have been really great to work with. If anyone else has had this experience I would like to hear from you. Thanks.

Happy for you that it seems to be working now. I'm still waiting on my XR4040H to get repaired. Going on a month now waiting for parts. Losing a lot of faith in LS too.

Sorry to hear that you have had to wait so long on parts. I bought a new tractor in 2014(not an LS) and the dealer delivered it with a hydraulic leak. I didn't notice the leak until after the driver had left. About four months waiting on two hydraulic lines. The lines were metal lines and I didn't want to try to have some made. Money down the drain if they were bent slightly wrong and wouldn't fit. The big name brands also have trouble with parts. I hope you get it fixed soon. Keep us posted.

After working with mine a year and several issues, some that were discussed here and some that were not, I sold it last Thursday and went with a proven farm tractor. Short-term I lost my butt. I think long-term I will come out ahead (I hope). I just couldn't see that LS holding up as a daily farm tractor pulling plows, disks, balers and pushing/moving material. I think it's a great tractor for hobby farms and folks that don't have much heavy duty work. My opinion is the tractor's frame and especially the loader and bucket are too light for the horsepower and traction it produced. My dealer was great, and I have no complaints about their service. Other than the bucket issue, I didn't have any problems with warranty claims or parts. It was just too hard on me to have it down for a week every other month with an issue.
