Problem yesterday on my XR4150, still less than 200 hours. While I was subsoiling part of the pasture, it would not say in 4wd. It did a good job of pulling it as long as it was in 4wd. But about every 5 to 7 minutes, it would go out of 4wd and the one wheel would spin. Stop and push the control down and it would go again. I have never had this problem before. I leave it in 4wd almost all of the time, except on the road or hard packed ground.
Wondering if anyone else had the same issue.

Sounds like it could be a linkage issue. I would check and see if something didn't loosen up. Do you feel it engage when you put it in 4wd? When you say push the "control" down you are pushing the lever down and not the differential lock correct?

I had a stick come up and bend the linkage on mine. Had to bend it back in shape. Works fine now.

on the XR4150, the diff lock is on the right side, 4wd is on the left side. I may check and see if anything could get between the floor and the linkage. Hard to see how it could, but my son used the tractor with the grapple about a week ago. And I have used it in mud around the horse pens and it could be mud packed under it.

I checked all the linkage. No issues with any of it. I do find that it only comes out by itself if it is in a hard pull (subsoiler). With other operations it stays in. I did a lot the past week. Mowing, rotor tiller, FEL, grapple, no problem. So far, only using the subsoiler. If I have time and it is dry enough, I will start with the disc this weekend. We will see.
