Kubota L2501 hst, belarus 825
Just sold my belarus 825 loader cab tractor and soon my kubota l2501hst ,4x4,loader and only 70hrs. The Russian tractor was too big and kubota too small. I need too handle wrapped bailage round bails.
I have 40 acres of mixed wooded, open fields, and some swamps. My driveway is 1/4 mile so heated cab would be nice for winter.

The wife and I looked at a XR4155HC and loved it, dealer is 10 minutes away. Only issue is that I have a good amount of implements that were a little big for the kubota but might be too small for LS. Woods RC5 brush mower, Deere sb1154 snowblower, dr wood chipper, generic disc rated for 40hp.

I'd hate to replace all that but loved the size of the tractor vs the xr31 series

Would I be better of with the 40hp vs the 55? It's a $3000 difference that if not for my implements would no brained go 55.

What do you all think?

Have a little over 200 hrs on 2016 4140 shuttle cab. Have plowed and blown snow, lifted and removed huge logs & stumps, landscaped, moved large piles of dirt, and put in road with 4 in broken rock followed by 3/4 in rock. Use back blade, rake, box blade, wood chipper, loader, 3pt weight box, loader mounted grapple (The Thumb), loader mounted snow plow, and rear mount blower.
Never needed more power and like the understressed nature of the same engine that is dialed up for 55 hp being run at lo stress 40 hp. Can't see 15 more hp making a useful or even noticeable difference for my use, especially for so many more $$$.
The larger than usual front wheels/tires are great for heavy loader work, and snow plowing.
The cab is no longer seen as luxury, but necessity on hot & muggy days, drizzling rainy days, or bitter cold and snowy days. This LS 4140 has functioned flawlessly. Absolutely love this machine.

Thanks for the info, my dealer is saying it's only a $2000 difference. I really like the 40hp and would at $3000 less but now $2k is making me wonder if I can get a better price someplace else?

While I have no need for more than 40hp, I dont run a brush hog. If you do, I understand they are more power hungry. Whichever way you go, you will love your 4100 series LS. Good luck in your decision making.

dan8152, if you check out my threads/comments you can find some WI based pricing on both models you mention to compare to. I was looking to go with a new XR 4140HC that my dealer had on the lot and ended up going with a XR 4155HC. My dealer said each 5 hp jump was a $1,500 cost adder for new tractors. The XR 4155HC I bought was a lease with 50 hours on the clock, but never did anything but pull a finish mower. I upgraded for roughly $1,500 with only 50 hours on the clock which I felt was fair. Note they did the 50 hr. service for free and threw in some other things. I feel I've benefited from the higher hp when pulling around larger disc (10-12 ft) and when I'm moving dirt. I find that medium range is my preferred speed (fast but not hwy speed) but I still need to use low range to make the most out of scooping (filling the bucket as much as possible), pulling my box blade, and pulling the disc up steeper hills. Personally I'm glad I went with the higher hp rating but it really depends on how you plan to use it. The frame size and related lift capacities are the same, so really it just makes you able to do certain things a bit faster. If it was $4,500 I would have passed...

With the engine warranty I'm confident there's still plenty of safety factor in motor output area. I'd bet engine life is tied more so to engine operation - machine sit inside/outside, allowed to warm up properly, allowed to cool down properly, fluid changes, etc. If I was buying something near the end of the warranty or out of warranty and could save money I'd buy the lower hp model and find a competent tuner. I'd guess this motor is easily 65 hp capable in stock form with a little tuning and more with things like injectors. But at that point you should probably buy a bigger framed machine :D

I wouldn't worry too much about your implements, again I think it's how you use them. I've got a 6' King Kutter box blade and a 6' King Kutter landscape rake. I think the newest KK box blade design is actually pretty good, though the landscape rake is a bit on the cheap side. That said, I bought both implements on sale for much less than some of the more reputable brands. I'd love to have all Everything Attachments implements but my use and fund just don't line up right now. I've cleared out a lot of brush, rocks, sod, etc. with the landscape rake and as long as I'm reasonable I don't see why it shouldn't last. That said, I could turn it into a pretzel in 5 minutes if I tried... I've run my neighbors 5' KK finish mower a fair amount and I think that's only a "40 hp" gear box. Because it's for "lawn grass" neither of us are worried, now if it was a 40 hp rated brush hog and knocking down small trees and hitting rocks every day you might have something to worry about.

Maybe your dealer can cut you a little better deal on the 4155.....now that its getting late in the season? Which ever HP model you choose.....I think you'll be very pleased with the 41 series. I had originally ordered an XR 3135 HC.......but changed to the XR 4140 HC after researching this site. The bigger front axle, larger front tires and dual ram steering was enough to change my mind. This was reinforced as I just received my front mount LS snow blower. I might have as much as a mile to blow......and between the 41 series and blower....I have confidence we'll be o.k.

Thanks al for the great replies! Lots of info to digest.

Now I'm wondering how it's only a $2k difference between the 4140 and the 4155 when there are two more models in between. The $1500 per 5hp makes more sense than $500. Why would they even bother with the 45hp and 50hp? I'll start researching those threads.

Problem is going to be selling the kubota with only 70 hrs.
If the deal was good enough I'd by the LS before I sell the kubota
Just not sure it is now
